Exciting for him - not so much for you, right?  Same here.  My son was orginally scheduled for Jan 4, 2018.  He was asked to move up his dep date to August. Now we are waiting on a date and worried like crazy that we will get the call and will only have a few days notice.  On second thought, that might make it easier for him. Less Mama Drama! LOL

What job has your son chosen?

Wow that's a big change in date. We were told after Christmas he would start. He went to MEPS and they changed it due to his job choice. He is going Fire control. He wanted Nuke but missed it by 2 points. What's your son doing? His B school is at Great Lakes so I guess that's good for him no waiting in between. I'm hoping he get to come home for Christmas since the school shuts down. I think I am going to lose my mind counting days. Owen doesn't want to talk about it and doesn't want a party. :( I get it though.  Stay strong and keep me posted. Maybe they will go at the same time.

I left info for you on your My Page about the FC rating and "A" School and more.

:)

My son Grayson is going Nuke / Subs. He'll go to A School in South Carolina and will probably ship out a few hours after graduation. At least, all that I've read says that they typically do send the Nukes on very early. I was hoping that we would at least have a full day. He was asked a couple of weeks ago if he would consider moving up his dep date and he eagerly accepted. He is ready (or thinks he is!)His request for early deployment was accepted and the Petty Officer told him it would be in August, but we still haven't received a date. I'm not sure how often they start the BT, every week, every other week, monthly?? Most of the people in this group have Aug 7th or 8th dates. So I'm thinking that might be the date. And we are planning on this. If it is later, then bonus, we have more time. I didn't realize that the schools shut down during Christmas. I was planning on driving his car out to him at that time. Best laid plans, and all that.

WifeNMudder, No, he will NOT "ship out a few hours after graduation." He will have Liberty on the day of PIR until sometime that evening and will ship out on Saturday--he will most likely head to the airport in the wee hours of the morning. Read the info about that and more that I previously put on your My Page.

There are divisions forming every weekday. Recruits ship to the RTC Monday through Thursday unless there is a federal holiday. There are future Sailors with ship dates every Monday through Thursday in August. Your future Sailor may get an earlier ship date or he may ship on his original date. In order for him to have an earlier ship date someone with an NF contract will have to not be able to ship for some reason. You will just have to see what happens.

I just wanted to wish you luck this week. I know it is going to be hard for you.  Take deep breaths and enjoy the moments leading up to the 14th!

Hi O'smom, I'm new to the group.  My son also leaves for bootcamp on August 14th, 2017.  It's just a couple days now.  How are you holding up?  I can't believe how fast this time is going!

Reagansmom, I left info for you on your My Page.

Thank you!

You are very welcome. Be sure to check out the info I left.

My son leaves August 15, my bday for GL and is in the Nuke program.  All very excited and apprehensive about all the changes.  Any info that someone can share regarding if security for PIR is increasing after Oct 6th and does that mean people wont be able to go to the chapel to watch PIR???    Also, have they changed the timeline for the Nukes to ship?  I had heard on the Saturday after PIR......then someone mentioned could be Sunday?

Thank You
