OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hotel and Best Airport
Can anyone share with me what they found to be a good hotel to stay in and which airport would be better to fly into. I have read about the Navy Lodge? Thanks

RINavymom I heard the Navy lodge was good, I stayed at the Residence inn because there was four of us, very clean comfortable had a living room, kitchen, but from my understanding alot of the Hotels have a kitchette, spring filed INN candlewood INN and all fairly close to the Ceremonial Hall. dont forget to mention attending Graduation most of them give a discount and decorate the door for your Sailor.

RINavyMom - if you need less expensive we stayed at the Red Carpet Inn. It was clean but only two double beds, no coffee pot in the room, but did have microwave and fridge. The outside needs updated, but they did have free Wi-Fi in the rooms which is always important to us and a free continental breakfast. I wasn't concerned about a full breakfast because I knew we were leaving early for graduation. Also we checked out of our motel room on Sat morning at 1 AM to drive to the airport to be with our sailor, so I was even happier that we had not stayed at an expensive motel or expected a fuller breakfast that then we did not eat.
They also gave a discount and had free shuttle. However, our shuttle reservations were either never written down or cancelled, so we ended up driving to RTC. But that proved to be a better decision for our circumstances after PIR and when our sailor was actually able to leave for liberty.
They are next to Flannigan's. My husband and I walked over, ordered pizza for carry-out and brought it back to our motel room. They are on Buckley Rd ? / St near RTC, but some of the other ones mentioned I think are near the route that Sarge suggests taking to PIR.
We drove, so I don't have any information on airports. If flying, check into their shuttles, or hotel shuttles, or check into Sarge's taxi service.

Hi we drove. But 4 of us stayed at Navy Lodge. It was a good price and Kitchenette was perfect. We had food and treats for our sailor. Its about 1.5 miles from the base. They sell your sailors division coins and div pics the day before graduation in the lobby also. We drove so I cant say what airport is best. If you rent a car have money for some tolls. They also sell generic merchandise at Sarges meet and greet. When we went to PIR you can buy shirts with your sailors division flag on it. So get there early. They sold out of our Div. Good luck it was a great day! I bring up the merchandise bc I didnt realize what was available prior to going.

Your recruits also have the option of purchasing their division T-shirts ahead of time. You might let them know that in a letter and give sizes, so they don't have to guess like ours did.

We drove in from Ohare it wasnt bad at all, we took the route where we bypassed all the tolls, Me my husband and daughter to a shuttle to the Graduation, my son in law wasnt able to go they only allowed 3 guest and I didnt think it would be fair to have him drop us off or pick us up, we were picked up at 6:15 for Shuttle and he picked us up really quick and took us back to hotel. very convienent.

I booked a room at the LaQuinta. Price is good But i heard they dont have a shuttle so im thinkng of changing my reservations.

Driving into graduation really wasn't that bad, especially if you get there early. We were able to park near the stairs down to the entrance to RTC and didn't stand in line very long. We only had to show our purse once inside. Being early is nice to find a seat and then be able to also do the shopping beforehand in the Great Hall. Not all of the shuttles will leave to get you there early, especially if they mess up your reservation with them.
It all depends and it also depends on whether your sailor is staying in GL for A school or flying out. If flying out they may not have all of their orders set for leave immediately after graduation and so it was to our benefit to have our vehicle at RTC. Just evaluate your own situation. Coming from the south, you can avoid tolls if you are not hitting rush hour traffic, but you are flying in.
You don't mention if your recruit is staying in GL or flying out for A school. If flying you won't know the airport until possibly they call you after BS or the day of PIR. There are tolls into O'Hara and be prepared to have to pay with coins only, no attendant.

Thank you @chipmunk. Im flying into O'hear with my sister so I was thinking of just renting a car. I'll be there on Wed so i was going to use Thursday to check every thing out. If he flys out after PIR will they let us take him to the airport?

Hi Corrin I believe you can go to airport with your Sailor, just get the ok because there will be a checkpoint for you to wait with your Sailor. when you speak to your son he can get the info for you, alot of the families did go to airport with their Sailor this past weekend. I would ask LemonElephant she can get you the answers to that. Good Luck and Best wishes to your Son.
