This is my first time using this web-site and I am hoping someone can help me.  My son is leaving for boot camp on Tuesday although he has to go down to Lansing tomorrow and his recruiter told me to get him a pre-paid phone card to take with him.  I have been to many stores and the only pre-paid cards out there are for wireless phones.  Where can I find a pre-paid card for a landline phone which is what I am guessing they have at the Naval Base.  I was a nervous wreck before and this is just adding to my stress if I can't get him a card...  Thank you for your help!

My son left last Tuesday and I could not find one either. I was told not to worry about it. They give them a small one at boot camp and they can purchase one there. Don't stress. Just spend time with your boy.

9 stores later and still nothing.  I guess I will just have him purchase one there as you suggested.  Thank you!

Lisa, my son found his at walmart for $20 for 500 minutes by all the gift cards. He activated it before he left and has used it to call me. Good luck!!

Navymom1; I was at Wal-Mart and actually had one in my hand but no one there could tell me if it worked on a landline phone and I was assuming that is what they called from.  I will go back and get it and then I can still mail it to him in one of my letters.  He shipped out today..  Thank you!!

Hi Lisa, Yeah, the employees dont know because they couldn't even tell me how much it was until they scanned it, but it works. It says 500 minutes on the front of the card. Glad I can help. Just activate it before u send it so your recruit doesnt waste time doing it. We all know their phone time is very limited.

calling cards can be for landlines or cell phones, go to a best buy. they will use the pay phones on base so all they need to do is follow instructions on the card.  My son called me on my cell phone on weekends a few times during the week he used a calling card. also your grocery store may have them or walgreens, CVS. just ask the cashier or manager they will direct you to them. I would also buy a book of stamps for them to write. I recieved letters first before the call. Hope this helps ladies

Yes that is correct they can purchase them at the NEX. I believe the phones are near by the store.

We got ours at Walgreen's.  You can log on to the website and add funds if needed too.
