im so excited for my son to start his Navy Life. He is chomping at the bit to get outta here, but at the same time I want to just want to keep moving the date out. I guess the sooner he leaves the sooner I will see him at PIR. I'm already planning on painting the inside of my house to make the 8 weeks go by faster.

hello Corpsmama,
Our son left on 9/26 as well. I was thinking about booking a hotel the week of Thanksgiving as well. Can always cancel. Our son was pretty excited.
Any suggestions for Hotels?
My niece leaves the 26th too! My son is a Marine, so I've been through THAT boot camp...but I need more resources for this Navy training....any good facebook groups to join?
AuntieMichelle, Check your My Page.
My son left the 26th too! I hope some of us get to meet up at PIR (wishful thinking, probably). But in just this week, I've found you all so helpful. The Navy really is a family!
AuntieMichelle. I have heard that because of Thanksgiving the PIR will be held Wednesday the 22nd. Also heard that the new Sailors have liberty on Thanksgiving Day.
Yes, if your then Sailor is part of the Thanksgiving TG, then s/he will have PIR on Wednesday, 22 November, and the new Sailors will have Liberty on Thanksgiving Day. Those who are flying out will not fly out until Friday and those who are staying in GL for training or "A" School will have daytime Liberty each day of the long weekend after they check in across the street. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.
Remember that it IS possible for some of those arriving on the 26th to have PIR on 11/17/2017. Wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure.
Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for..., and begin getting things in order and discussing the things there with your future Sailor if you haven't already.
My son leaves on 9/26/17 also! Less than a week to go. He is very excited.
Swimmom, I left info for you on your My Page.
My son leaves Mon & gets sworn in Tues the 26th. We're close enough that we will get to see the ceremony. Recruter said his BC will probably be a "push" so PIR will be before TG--11/17.
His original date was in Dec. He is so happy it was moved up!
I love him & going to miss him!!! He's my youngest but first to leave the nest.
Lucie, There is no way to know the PIR date for sure until after the recruit arrives at the RTC and is placed in a division.
By counting nine Fridays, PIR is most likely 11/22/2017 for those who ship on 09/26/2017. (That is Thanksgiving week, so PIR is on Wednesday.) It could be the week before if he is placed in a Push Division in the TG from the week before. It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. Wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon be happening and what to expect.
I left info for you on your My Page.
Hospital Corpsmama, I am sorry to see that. Hopefully he will be fully healed and ready to ship. I left info for you on your My Page.
