two and half month delay start in A School....booo.....

Hello everyone! My son will be graduating BC this Friday and tells me he doesn't start A school until April 18th, April 18th, yikes! Not the news I really wanted to hear, but I know out of my control. What will help keep them busy during this time? He wants me to send his XBox! ugh...lol...I know he has a lot of Netflix to catch up on, but still! lol  Will the Military be helping keep their minds sharp and focused? Is there no school whatsoever during this time?

Any insight is appreciated! Thank you!

Hi! My husband finished BC in February 2016 and didn't start his school until May. They are busy doing their qualifications (learning how to be a rover, duty driver, etc) and getting oriented to the base. There are classes/briefs on sexual harassment and that sort of thing. He will still be mustering every morning and given different tasks. Once he phases up, he can go explore beautiful Monterey without the stress of class!

Yeah, so your husband had 3 months! Holy smokes!

It is absolutely gorgeous there, that's for sure! I was there on a business trip about 5-6 years ago and loved it! I was telling him on the phone yesterday that I can't imagine they will have them idle! I think we'll hold off on sending the Xbox once he gets there! lol...

BTW, what's a rover? Reason I ask, is I use that app to book my dog sitting service!  haha!

haha! someone that "roves" or walks the base, making sure things are how they're supposed to be

kayaking at Elkhorn Slough, Point Lobos, driving to Big Sur, Vesuvios rooftop happy hour, Yosemite, walking in the wharf and seeing the seals.. some of my favorite things!

That's hilarious! They are lucky to be in such a beautiful part of the country!

Oh, oh... I did not think the "downtime" could be that long. If that happens to our future sailor (he is still in BC) he'll visit some relatives for sure. Do not want him to get too relaxed, though...

I think they'll have them pretty busy through the day from what I understand so far with my son and they have the phase up like they normally would to have their regular liberty.
