My BF left for boot camp on 3/22 & he called his mom with the, "I have arrived and am safe" phone call, but I wanted to know when and for how long his next call will be? Also, could he call both his mom and me, or does he have to choose? How often are they allowed to call?? Thank you in advance for your feedback!

My son has called me both times and had me do a 3 or 4 way call so he can talk to more people without taking the time to hang up and call back
My son left 2/27 and we got our first phone call on 03/31. It was 60 seconds. He told me at the beginning he only has 60 seconds. I am hoping he will get to call again.
Phone calls are generally (note flexibility) around 3 weeks and 6 weeks of BC - at least they were for my son. His first one he only had about 25 - 30 min to talk. The next one he talked longer, but also had missed reaching my cell and started calling the other family members. Time for calls varies depending on how well the division is doing and other time restrictions. Also, if your SR is involved in another responsibility they may miss the group call time and forfeit theirs or receive permission to call later. If they have time, they can call and talk to more people, but it all depends.
Christi - Hello! Just like Chipmunk said they usually call twice if all things "normal" and they don't miss for watch. They call during the day on either Sat or Sun. You wouldn't get a call at late night(after 9 central) unless there was something else going on. My son was able to call 2 numbers - his brother at home and they talked for a few minutes, and then my cell to talk to his dad and I because we were out. So, I think he will probably make 2 shorter calls (1 to you for 10 min, 1 to his parents for 10 min). One thing to keep in mind - when they say they need to get off the phone - they need to go! LOL :)
