Hi Kbpoohbear so happy you received the box, next Will be the form letter So you can send your letters. It had to of been bitter sweet and emotional all at the same time. Just know your Loved one is ok and working hard. Have a good evening

Thank you, between you and Nukemom I have been kept sane.

I got my box also. It was harder than I thought just to decide to open it. I am hoping that the form comes quickly so we can start communicating.

Hello Kbpoohbear-

I received my son's box yesterday as well.  I gathered up his clothes and sat down with them in my arms and cried.  The previous posts from this site were very helpful because his pants legs were rolled up and what I had read helped me to understand why.  I am very grateful for all the information from those moms who have been through this before.  I too am looking forward to the letter so I can begin to send him letters to let him know I am thinking of and supporting him.  I am anxious to learn his division and ship number, and graduation date so I a can begin to make plans.  Thanks again to everyone who has shared information....it is the thread that I am holding onto tightly.

I noticed the pants were rolled up why is that? Can you explain?

The reason for the pant roll up is because they get sized for shoes.

the legs will most likely still be rolled up; this is because the recruits must roll up their pant legs before having their feet measured for their footwear and they don't have time to unroll them before packing the box

I was emotional until I found his undies. I was totally fine after that. Everything else you said is how I feel. I have been writing since before he left.

Yes, My boy in box arrived last night and it was so cool because he sent a code message to us.  written on the inside of the box that only we would understand, which meant I love you.  At first I didn't notice it, because it was on the inside lid and I was going through the clothes just to see if he sent a note and then I looked back and there it was. Made us smile from ear to ear and a couple tears of joy too!

That is sweet, some are able to sneek a note in sometimes. So Glad to hear that.

Kbpoohbear - So glad to hear you received your box. I think it was about a week or so before I had my form letter, some come sooner and some later but it will come and then you can make your motel reservations. We drove, so I only made my GL reservation and then waited till about week 6 or so for the other reservations, maybe later. I was also preparing for my 2nd daughter's wedding which was the weekend before my son's PIR!

Keep the letters going / when you have his address share with friends or family so they can write him as well (be sure to share some of the reminders - no pkgs, flashy cards/envelopes, glitter, newspaper clippings.) And keep the prayers going, then keep yourself busy and the time will fly fast, well it did for me because my summers always go faster than I want them to. I told my son his time in BC will go by faster for me than for him and I think that is how it worked out. Remember, as much as you miss him, he is the one being yelled at, having to get by with little sleep, learn lots, and run PT!

Then before you know it, you will be going through A school with him and planning for more graduations! Bravo Zulu to your son!!
