For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son leaves for Boot Camp in One Week
Why can't I stop crying. I'm so proud of him and excited for him, but feel such a strong sense of loss. It seems so permanent, since he really will be gone.

I know i felt the same way. My son is the last to leave home. And what hurts is knowing he will probably never live home again . then with going to about 5 funerals in about a months time, made me stop and think and not morn that my son was leaving. He's away but not gone forever. So I turned it around to how happy he was to join, how successful he will be and the traveling of the world , that made me feel better. He's already getting us to Chicago so we will do some traveling to, his journey is our journey . xxxo cry but smile too.

Thank you! He is our last to leave home too (which makes it harder). Our others left for college, so I could call them all the time (which makes this leaving harder too). But yes, it is his journey he has wanted for a long time :)

maddy, I agree about the travelling. Besides Chicago we were able to visit our son in Charleston, SC, Ballston Spa, NY (twice) and Virginia (3 times). Not the most exotic places but still fun to visit! He's out of the Navy now but still lives in VA (and we are in CA) but he's heading to Michigan soon. Another place we can visit lol! Hang in there!

Thank God for this site! I could not have survived without it. My son's PIR was Nov 9,2017. Every time he comes home...I cry. Every time he leaves...I cry. Deployment...cry. it's natural. But it has also brought us so much closer. I kept all his letters sent to him at boot camp by family n friends as well as the ones he wrote to us. Beautiful expressions of love. Suggestion... Buy a 3x5 Mead spiral top notepad. (Only a sock will b provided for him to store personal belongings hence the small size) Takes weekend to write as many notes of love, words of encouragement, Bible scriptures, etc. Have every member of the family, friends, nieces, nephews, neighbors, former teachers, pastors, etc also write notes on each page. These words will b his source of strength at least during the first weeks when he won't b able to receive or send letters. Start writing him letters of love n encouragement a soon as he leaves so u can mail them as soon as u get the Form letter. God bless u n ur son. Amen

Thank you for your encouraging words and prayers. God bless you and your family too. Good tip on the notepad and words of encouragement. I bought my son a small New Testament bible with psalms and proverbs and he said mom, I have two of those already. Every time I go to MEPS there is a man handing them out. :)

hi I'm barely new here few days a go ,i been just like you , I'm the same very proud of my daughter and was very happy but suddenly turned out very worrying non stop crying at first day when i left her at meps ,i didn't tough i will be reacting this way i still feel all day all night just thinking on her she's at second week bootcamp . i still cry i just received today her box with her belongings . i only have this website and now i carry my laptop everywhere . my daughter is the first one to join military and as a single mom have just by me .is very hard sometimes.
