My son left home on Easter and arrived at GL on Monday, April 2nd. We received “the box” on Friday the 6th but still, no letter. Very anxious to hear from him!

My husband also arrived April 2nd and I received his box the 6th. I haven’t received a letter yet either!! Have you signed up for informed delivery through usps?

My son also, we got his box but no letter yet. Should be soon. Its been said it takes about 7 to 10 days for the first letter with thier address to come. Hopefully they send a little note along with it. My daughter wrote all over the sides in the margins to tell me how she was doing when her first letter came in.

Ladies there is a site in regards to form letter, things have changed in receiving the Letter only because they have changed the standard. please read. and welcome Ladies to Navy Moms.

Hooyahsuzy posted this and it explains why somw will receive sooner than others.  please make sure to read it has infomation on receiving the letter and it may answer some questions.

When to Expect Your Form Letter

My son left for BC on April 3rd. Was scheduled to leave on Easter but his Recruiter gave him the option to celebrate Easter at home. I got his box on April 5th and his PIR letter today.

That is Great News, yes I am unfamiliar with this change so this is also new to me. but since it was posted, I thought it was a good idea for all moms to read. Now you can mail out your letters YAY!

So grateful for all the information shared on here. It has really given me some peace of mind. So much to not only learn but to understand. I don't feel so alone.

CAmomma do not stress about it, My Son is a Sailor and on deployment and I am still learning, every step of this is a Journey and always some New to learn. wishing your Loved One best wishes.
