Hello All!

First time on this site. My youngest is shipping off to RTC on 6/13 and I am a mess!  So proud of him, but really having a difficult time letting go. Been reading everything I can, but I’m not so sure that helps! LOL!

Any advice on how to keep it together for the next 8-9 weeks?

Duana, our kids might have the same PIR date.

I hear you, I spent a good portion of my day obsessively hunting information as to when they do the initial run! Lol!

hflan, I left info for you on your My Page.

My son shipped out on 6/13 also. He wasn't able to make the call because his phone died but I got one today! Hopefully you'll hear from your daughter also. Hang in there!

That scripted phone call just tore me up. My girl loves to talk. I know that got her too.

Welcome BoogiesMom, you have come to the right place! all these lady here are wonderful & will help you on this journey :) I think we all feel this way at the beginning but know that it gets better as the weeks go by. I kept myself busy with my daughters activities as she was in her senior yr in high school, her sports & I also enrolled myself in school! Stay strong Mom you got this! your son will be working hard in BC and you will be so proud of him when PIR comes along. Prayers to you and your son on this journey!

Thank you so much maristar2!

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone knows how long before we will receive a letter. I received the box of my younger brothers belongings today so I’m hoping soon! And at what point do they give a graduation date?

Heather, The Form Letter (clickable link) now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC in most cases. It will include his address and PIR date.

I left info for you on your My Page.

Great! Thanks for the info.

You are very welcome.

Hi Boogie, Duana and Heather. How is everyone holding up? Is it getting easier? My turn is in Sept and I’m getting nervous. Hope all is well.

Hi Smoothsailing,

I am hanging in there.  We received the box on Monday, and that was a little rough.  I laid down with his tshirt and cried.  But, this week has gone by fairly fast and I just keep telling myself that the rest of them will too.  I have written him a letter every day since he left.  I hope he doesn't get into trouble with the huge stack he's gonna get when he receives them, LOL!

How are you Ladies doing?

Smooth, just try like crazy to spend quality time with your SR before Sept comes.  I cried daily the last week before he left, and hugged him every time he walked in the room. Try not to cry too much around your SR, cause I'm sure I made my Son sad doing that.

In answer to your question "is it getting easier?"... I will defer to a post I saw on here earlier this week:  "It doesn't get easier, you just get stronger."

Hang in there Ladies!  Thank you All for all of the wonderful support you give.  It is such a blessing.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
