It is too early to know for sure that he is in DIV 328 even though that was the division that he was tentatively placed in upon arrival. Wait on The Form Letter, which now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC in most cases, before sending any letters. He hasn't had the initial run yet. See Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training (FIT).

Hi Kara.

My daughter also arrived in BC on the 27th.  I do not know her division, but I am assuming, if everything goes according to plan, that she will be in one of the divisions having PIR on August 24th.  Again.... barring any unforseen circumstances.  I just received The Box today.  I hope you did too.  The letter will be next.  I still cry every day at least once, sometimes more.  My daughter turned 18 in boot camp today.... and to make things worse, she is our only child.  So just hang in there and keep praying.... for all of them.  Stay in touch!

Hi Barbara!

First of all, WOW you are one tough mom! I'm sure it will be a birthday your daughter will ALWAYS remember! I can't imagine my only child going into the Navy. Stay strong!! My son will turn 20 soon and had a year of university life under his belt, so even though it was sad (because I know our life will not be the same for the next few years) I also felt he was ready. Praying for all our kids!

They have so much courage!

Concerning "the box" I'm sad that I missed the FEDEX guy on Tuesday, then we had July 4th so hopefully I can get my box today. Also, I started writing letters already. I've heard mixed reviews about their address.  I think the form letter will be most accurate. In the meantime, I HAVE sent letters to my recruit with the address I was given 3 days after his arrival. I know he was housed in a temporary place for the first couple days and then put in his DIV. I double checked with his recruiter and he said it was accurate information. He specifically said "no rookies here!" Ha! Hopefully he's right!

Writing the letters was therapy for me, so no harm if he doesn't receive them later or ever....we will catch him up with the letters. Best to you and praying you don't miss your daughter too much! She is in good hands with the NAVY!!

Your recruit is still in Phase 1 (P-days) and is still in his temporary ship and will not be in his permanent ship and division until next week.

Hopefully your recruit will pass the initial run on his first attempt and will remain in the division that he was tentatively assigned to upon arrival and the RTC will not need to move him to a different division for any reason.

It is sad that the recruiter has not kept up with the changes at the RTC and that you and he also choose not to listen to the PAO and wait on the form letter before sending letters. Yes, until January the address in the system a few days after the recruit's arrival would be the address that the recruit would have when Phase 1 (P-days) was over in most cases, but it was wrong at times and when it was, then letters were delayed or not received at all. Now the address will be wrong if the recruit fails on the first attempt of the initial run and could be wrong for other reasons as well if the RTC has to move recruits around.

You can still write letters and then mail them once you receive the form letter.
