Congras Timothy and Havasu! How are you both doing? Praying for your sons' journey!!
Thank you HDragonfly42! I am doing really well. I'm a bit afraid to admit that I'm so excited for my son to be on this journey. I am starting to think maybe I'm a bad mom because I'm not having the same reaction as a lot of other people. I was asking my husband if something was wrong with me. My son has wanted this since he was a Sophomore in high school, so I was just so happy to see him start down a life-path he wanted. My husband pointed out that I'm used to all of my kids being gone every summer while they go to their dad's for visitation (he's in a different state), so I have already gone through the experience of that first summer of not being around my kids or seeing them for 10 weeks.
I was feeling a bit anxious after he flew out while I was waiting for the scripted call. I got the text that he landed, and then it was almost 6 hours later for that call. I actually worried that my asking him to text me meant that he ended up giving up his rights to the scripted call because he had already notified us (you know, mom brain...thinking up the worst scenarios). However, once I got the call and heard the chuckle in his voice, all my worries disappeared. I know he is safe, he has a roof over his head, food in his belly, he's got a paycheck and medical insurance coming... that kid has it made. As long as gets through boot camp anyway. LOL!!
Well, that was a long answer to your question. I'm doing fine. I'm looking forward to the box, the letter, and then a phone call! I'm excited for him, and I know that after a week or two he will settle in and be fine.
My son arrived on the 25th! Nice to know there are others out there on the same time line as me!
Good morning. My son left 06/27 and arrived early am 0628. We received the "I arrived" call around 12am. #relieved
Today is my daughter's 18th birthday and she gets to spend it with her future shipmates instead of her family. Boo hoo. But, at the same time, I am so very proud of her. Lots of mixed emotions today. Waiting for the box. She shipped out on on the 27th (last Wednesday). Hard day for me today.... sigh
