graduation is on Wednesday not your typical day so what happens usually in terms of liberty?

Good Afternoon Tryla,
PIR-Thanksgiving week is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and new Sailors who fly out will fly out on Friday rather than on the day after PIR. Those who stay in GL for "A" School or training still move over on the day of PIR and after checking in they have daytime Liberty every day through Sunday.
Hi Tryla, here is some info and the site.
In 2018, all PIR's will be on Friday except for Thanksgiving-11/22/2018 (PIR will be on Wednesday, 11/21/2018--flights will be on Friday; plan to leave late Friday or on Saturday).
If PIR falls on a holiday weekend, the RTC will post on their facebook page if there are to be any changes in the typical flight arrangements for the Sailors; for example, those graduating on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving usually fly out on the Friday after Thanksgiving rather than on Thanksgiving Day. Typically, the only federal holidays that the new Sailors do not fly out on are Thanksgiving and Christmas, so plan on your Sailor flying out the day after PIR.
My son graduated Thanksgiving week way back in 2011. It was actually really nice. I spent the Wednesday with him after graduation, took him back to the base, picked him up Thanksgiving morning and then we went and had Thanksgiving dinner at a nearby restaurant with one of the friends he made in his division and his family. We were able to spend the entire day together, I took him back to base that evening and then h flew out on Friday morning. I always feel really blessed that it worked out like that. One of our more special Thanksgivings.
Hi Jenn,
May I ask where you had Thanksgiving dinner? I assume in a restaurant?
My daughter will likely (crosses fingers) have her PIR on the Wed. before Thanksgiving. I'd like to have an idea as to where we can have a nice meal.
Thanks!
Texasmom, I left some info for you on your My Page.
