So yesterday the dreaded box with my son's things came just as they said. The tears started flowing again. I find this more difficult then when he went off to college or took a job in another state for 3 months or even when he vacationed Thailand for a month back packing. I just find myself crying each time I think of him. Wondering how he is doing on the PFA or if his area is clean and tidy(never was at home) and just in general wondering how he is doing. He makes friends easily. I just miss him so very much. But I am also so very proud of my SR. Just this initial part is the hardest. I already have a couple of letters written that as soon as we get his address they can get into the mail to him. His girlfriend will also be writing so he will get plenty of mail. Love ready this site it has given me a lot of information. Thank you

lv2terp, wait on sending any more letters until you receive the form letter, which now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC in most cases. The address available to the recruiter can be wrong up to 11 business days or more if your recruit is moved from the division he was tentatively placed in upon arrival. Your recruit is still pin Phase 1 (P-days) and has not had his initial run test yet. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon be happening and what to expect.

Check your My Page.

Are you from MD

My son said his P-day were 10 days. Not sure why. He said he felt like he was in jail. He did say when he tried on his uniform for the first time, he looked legit. I think that made him feel better.  He said it wasn’t as easy as he thought it was going to be. The PFT was not a problem for him nor was the swim.  I think it’s the domestic part of it. The folding, the making of the bunk, uniform inspection. He said if he can get through this part he’ll be good.

Most likely he was on p hold waiting on the brother divisions to both fill up. Seeing that Navyvet/navymom has a daughter that arrived at about the same time, my guess is they were waiting on females to arrive. Your son could be in an integrated division, or he is in the division after the integrated divisions were filled (yes, they must wait).

Our "babies"...all grown up...young men and women serving the great US of A. So proud of their bravery & dedication. God bless them all. Amen

Oh darn I am going crazy to know just to get a letter off to him. I leave on cruise tommorow for week have to wait another whole week
