It is still a bit early to hear from your recruit. The form letter now arrives 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC in most cases. Your recruit MAY be able to write a "real" letter tomorrow if he is in his permanent ship and has holiday routine for the first time. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

You may receive an "I'm still alive!" call in week 3 or 4 (calendar week, not DOT), but that call can come before or after that depending on when the RDC is able to schedule the phone banks. (It has been coming during the third weekend after arrival for many lately or early in the following week.) The call may be only a few minutes to a half hour or more depending on how long the RDC schedules the phone banks. Don't expect a call, but do have your phone available from 8ish am to 8ish pm Central Time and be pleasantly surprised when you receive a call.  The "I'm still alive!" call or other calls the RDC schedules usually come in the mornings on weekdays except on the day of a PIR because the "I'm a Sailor!" calls, which are typically made 1 to 7 days before PIR now, are in the afternoon and evenings, but calls can come anytime during those hours on Saturday.  Calls on the day of a PIR or on Sunday come between 1 and 8 pm. Calls for security reasons or for information are generally made during regular business hours.  Remember "No news is good news!" See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

Possible times for calls scheduled by the RDC:

8 am to noon M-Th

1 pm to 8 pm F or Sun

8 am to 8 pm Sat

Calls for information or due to a problem usually come during business hours, M-F 9 to 5 pm.

I left info for you on your My Page.

thank you

You are very welcome.

Same! mine left 11/28.

My son left on November 28th also

Please let us know when you recieve your letter.

I was thrilled to get a real phone call at around three weeks! We were able to talk for about 45 min which I realize isn’t normal. The “I’m here” phone call was 17 seconds... Mine left 11/06

Hi! My SR left on 11/28 and while I haven't gotten the form letter (like everyone else has according to FB lol) I did get a personal letter yesterday! It came in at only two weeks! They allowed them to mail their mail the second Sunday so maybe y'all will have some coming too! :D

Thanks for the info I'm looking forward to a personal letter.

I received the Form letter today I'm so happy to finally recieve his mailing address. I immediately ran to the post office with the letters I wrote him hopefully he gets them soon.

That's so exciting! I have YET to receive my form letter, lol its crazy. I did talk to my wife on the phone on Saturday though and she said she got my letters from the recruiters address so at least she's getting something since everyone else seems to have gotten their form letter.

That's great! They need contact with love ones.  My son called me Sunday night I was delighted to hear his voice.  He told me that he hate boot camp they extracted 4 wisdom teeth and he recieved vaccines. He sound horrible very congested and on pain pills due to the extraction. He also told me that he's looking forward to better days, he said they made them work very hard to earn the phone call.
