So I’m just trying to get some ideas to plan for our trip up there. I’m debating if we should rent a car or use Sarge/ shuttles since none of us would know how to really drive in snow/icy weather I’d prefer not to risk it.

In regards to Sarges taxi services and those who used him, are they able to take you from one hotel to another closer to the airport our SR will fly out of then to our airport if it differs from the SR? I read something on here about Sarge suggesting to check out of the hotel near the PIR and check into one closer to the airport our SR/ sailor will fly out of. We’ll be flying into and out of Midway so I know he offers a round trip for that.

Does he also offer taxi services to the meet and greet?

Do the hotels that offer a shuttle to and from the PIR also offer a shuttle to take the SR back before liberty ends? Or should we reserve a taxi to take us to and from our hotel to the base to take him back?

If you use sarge, let him know you need ride to meet and greet and Sarge's tacos are allowed on base so they can take your Loved one back and can also take you to airport. Just have to arrange all with him at one time.

Ty. Since we won’t know what airport he’ll be flying out of I assume he may be a bit flexible with that once we find out. I do plan on calling him/them closer to his PIR for exact stuff but for now I’m trying to ease my mind and plan haha

Sarge's taxi service can take you wherever you need to go. You do need to get a hold of him to make your trip reservations.

I can also tell you that in some cases renting a car will be less expensive. Driving on the ice and snow isn't a problem there, they are very good about keeping the roads clear.

Perhaps what you may want to do is take Sarge's service to and from the airport, but rent a car in the Great Lakes area. Sarge has made arrangements with Avis/Budget for renting cars, and he can take you from the airport to the car rental location. It will also give you some freedom to travel around when your Sailor is with you.

Sarge's taxi service will take you wherever you need to go.

Booking a different hotel is completely up to you. Your Sailor will most likely fly out of O'Hare. The hotels do not offer a shuttle to take your Sailor back to base from the hotel in the evening, and the person who has checked him out for the day will need to go back to the base to check your Sailor in.

I was thinking about the costs probably adding up to be more expensive than renting a car. Thank you for the reassurance on the roads. We’re from south Texas so the weather up there will be something new for us.

I assume he’d be able to pick us up from the car rental place after we drop the car back off and take us to the hotel closer to the airport then to the airport we’ll be flying out of. I’d much rather change hotels closer to the airport so we can get some rest before meeting him at the port until we have to fly out.

However it is sounding like a rental car will probs work better.
