Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It's harder for us because of the unknowns. They are busy learning how to get by and what's expected of them. My son said the first week was s.l.o.w. with lots of paperwork but by the 3rd week is was getting real. We are about to start week 6 and its finally going by fast. Hang in there.

I can’t imagine waiting four weeks! This weeks has already felt like an eternity! Are you confident your son gets your letters? That’s one of my big concerns. I already have a stack of letters to send her just waiting for the address.

Yes he gets them. He responds to questions I've asked and updates I've given on family. Your recruiter should be able to get you the address at about 1 wk in.

Thanks for the response. The unknown really is the worst. How long did it take you to get your first letter? I keep thinking once I hear from her I will feel a little better.

I got a letter 3days short of 4weeks...the longest 4 wks ever. And I got a call the same day, not at all expected but it was so exciting to hear his voice and the reassurance that he was doing well. We have only recieved 2letters from him, trying to remember he is still adjusting and lots of testing. We send him 1 letter a day because I know he needs all the encouragement he can get...and encourage you to write even when you dont get a response.

My daughter arrived on 1/8, too. I didn’t expect it to be this hard. I haven’t gotten anything except the initial “I’m here” call. I’m looking forward to the form letter and hope it will alleviate some of the sadness. I bought some pretty stationary she’d like and I’m going to start writing on it. Hugs!

I was so disappointed with the initi “I’m here” call. I knew it was supposed to be short, but I had no idea it was scripted. It was quite the shock. What is your daughter going into after boot camp?

My son also arrived on 1/8 from the west coast! Got that scripted 30 second call, just awaiting on his box & form letter! I’m hoping they both arrive this week! I signed up for informed delivery through the USPS to see what’s going to be in my mailbox! I’ve never been more excited to check my mailbox! I usually check it once a week or longer, but not anymore!!
