Hello everyone its so nice to find a site like this. My two sons just started bootcamp. I got the phone calls late last night telling me they made it that they love me and that they will get ahold of me when they can. What an emotional rollercoaster. They left home excited while I cried and was a worried mess. Proud and happy for them but sad at the same time. Anyone else have someone that just started bootcamp?? I would love to hear from you.

Momof2Sailors are your Sons Twins or just Joined and left together? whewww! I thought it hard for One but you have Two. I want to Welcome you, and to let you know all will be ok. The Emotions not so much because you will be all over with them, But you have come to the Right Place. Everyone on this site will Understand perfectly what you are going thru. Stop By and post on the site you will meet so many of the Fantastic Wonderful Moms who will give a lot of insight on what to expect. Welcome again!

Thank you for the warm welcome. No they are not twins. My oldest is 20 and his brother is 17. I also have a 15 year old boy who is missing his brothers like crazy! My oldest always wanted to be in the navy but the 17 year old this wasn't his first choice. He graduated a year early ( He's supposed to be a senior in high school) and was accepted into a great college but everything I tried doing to get college paid for fell through. My oldest son told his brother if you sign up with me your schooling will be covered. No student loans. He really wanted to do it after that. Next thing I knew I was at the recruiters office signing him up. That was a difficult decision for me. They are both going to do A school. Something to do with computers.

Well I know how Proud you must feel and to know they are together. My Son joined for the same reason for schooling although it would of been free to him as well either way. But the places they will go and see. It is a Wonderful experience for them. My Grandson was upset with my Son when he left, it was hard trying to explain to a 2 1/2 yr. old that his Uncle will be back and didn't leave him. when my Son came to visit during A school (Christmas) he had some explaining to do for the little one. It is hard for us Moms to let go, Believe me.....I still go through my Phases and My Son has been in going on two Years. Keep your Head Up Ma'am and if you need anything let me know.

Wow, I have 2 sons in the Navy too. One is serving in Okinawa and the second is in week 5 of boot camp. The younger one went in first, but that would have been cool to go in together. Are they in the buddy program? I have two more teenage sons, whom I have forbidden to enter the service. The Navy has enough of my sons, I told them:) Don't be surprised if your first letters tell you they are sick, depressed, maybe regretting their decision. It seems like they all feel that way in the beginning. Just send lots of letters of encouragement and pray for them

.

Welcome! This is such a great place to be for support. Make sure to download Sandboxx which is the fastest way to send letters. I wish I knew about it when my recruit left. She is scheduled for PIR 3/29/19. It’s an emotional roller coaster every single day. Hang in there! Your boys will do an amazing job

Sending you a BIG hug

What is Sandboxx????

AmyC - Sandboxx is an app that you can use to send letters to your SR in boot camp, those deployed or any military address around the world.

Thank you for the support. I just downloaded sandboxx today but haven't used it yet. Goodluck with your daughter and big hugs to you
My first son went in at 17. The one in boot camp now is 21.
He was a senior in college and decided he hated accounting, so he dropped out and enlisted in the Navy. Hopefully, he will finish the degree in the Navy. He did go in E-3 though, and will be E-5 after c school. My corpsman son is still E-3. Hard to rank up as a corpsman.
I too got the call last night so I'm right there with you! My two were going to go together as well but one ended up holding off until his braces are a done deal in a few months. They've done everything together so I'm thinking maybe it's for the best. Half of my tears were bc they have never been apart like this and this is just the beginning I have a feeling. I was a Navy wife for almost 10 years so I'm more familiar than newer families to the Navy life. I feel awful that at 19 their Dad and I were clueless to what our own parents went through with us gone so young. Lol
It seems like we'll be on the same timeline so feel free to reach out anytime you need support or have questions.
It feels good to know there are people out there that understand my feelings. I hope both of your boys do great. How old are yours if you don't mind me asking?
