Hey guys! My brother just left for boot camp two weeks ago and I wanted to know how do I go about contacting him and finding out his actual graduation date. My parents live outside the country so I’m his only link to home. I want to make sure he knows that he has support! I would love any and all recommendations thank you.

Hi Tash, does he know to send all correspondence to you, he will have no communication for the first few weeks, maybe until the third or fourth week. is he to call you in regards to any info he may need or for any phone calls. This should of been discussed prior to him leaving. other than that there is no phone calls to him and he will send his info to his parents and their address.

I hope so! I did not know to talk to him about these things. He does have my addressso hopefully he sends it to me. I got his box of personal items, so that’s a good sign!

The Sandboxx is a great way to write letters  my daughter just graduated and she said the letters helped it’s normally 8-9  weeks from when they arrive at boot camp and always on Friday. Hope that helps

The Sandboxx? Is that a website or an app or something? Lol I’m sorry I’m so new to this stuff

Hi Tash - here's the link for the sandboxx app.  You do need to wait until you get the official letter from him with his address before you start sending letters as it could change.

Tash - we were all new at this at some point in time. No need to apologize. We are here to help and answer as many questions as possible. Like B'NukeMom said, it is best to wait for the official letter - usually referred to as the Form letter, because it is typed up and the seaman recruit (SR), just fills in their address. It should have all of the pertinent information you need for graduation, so since you received his box of items, hopefully that is a good sign that he will mail the form letter to you.

Thanks so much everyone!
I’ll just keep my eye out for the letter!
This was a great help <3 have a good night

You can try getting the address fro his recruiter that is what we did however, there is a chance they will be moved from when the recruiter has the address. We got lucky I guess.

You normally get mail 9 to 14 business days from arrival and a call roughly three weeks in. Anything that says pay phone on your caller id is him. Do not contact recruiters they do not have correct address for your recruiters. Hopefully this helps...Count 9 Fridays from his arrival and that’s the estimated graduation date
I'm glad I read this. I was getting antsy myself and considered contacting the recruiter since he assured me he would have that information.
