Hello all,
As most of you are aware ,my daughter had a setback and did not pass her final PFA run. Today she called me to explain what happened that day. Apparently another recruit collapsed during the final run and passed away. She is all emotionally turned upside down by this tragedy. She said I almost told them I want to come home but I have fought for too long to give up. She said she needs lots of encouragement more so now than ever. I just wanted to reach through the phone and hug her. If any mom’s out there can help me navigate this tradegy and help me write the words that will encourage emotionally to help her to keep moving. I’m an emotional mess right now but I know this is the time to be strong for her. Any words of wisdom is truly appreciated.

thedisneymom I just a call this morning. She is grateful for all the words of encouragement but she started crying because she said that she might have to stay another 2 months because they believe she has a metacarpal stress fracture. She said her foot is 3 times it’s normal size. They made her a special insole and said she has to take 800mg of ibuprofen regularly. They won’t know until they get the swelling down if it is a fracture or not. She is not allowed to do any running or anything for this next week. She said mom I don’t know why God has me here so long. It has to be for a reason. I just kept telling her I know it’s hard but I love you no matter what happens. She said I don’t want to be out because of this. I have fought to long to make it.
I kept positive with her and the minute she hung up I burst into tears. I’m just so proud of her perseverance. She is a fighter and she said if they send me to ship 5 I’ll heal and I will come back! I’m not giving up! She said that they told her she call me next week to tell me how her foot is doing.
Keep the prayers coming for my girl!!
Thank you
Will continue praying for your girl. I pray she keeps her spirits up. As long as she doesn't have some pre-existing condition she won't have to worry about being let go. They will give her time to heal and then continue on to graduation. Tell her this is just a small blimp in her career and isn't going to change anything in the long haul!!!!
Oh no!!!!!! That's my first reaction... My second one is "WOW!!! What a FIGHTER!!!" I know it seems like it's an uphill battle to her... But she can obviously handle it.
Way to go on the support and encouragement! It's ok to crumble after she gets on the phone. We want to protect them from anything bad. That's our job as moms...
My prayers are being sent out daily for her and for you as well.
Stbl thank you I need all the hugs I can get right now.
So sorry to hear about your daughter and all the stress she is going through. I heard about the sailor passing away at boot camp and my first thought was for all the other young people who were training along side her. Several years ago when my oldest daughter was going through OCS a young candidate collapsed and died during training. My daughter was a few weeks ahead of them and they were part of the newcomers her class was in charge of. It is very hard on the others, being in the same training, and away from home and their own support system of family and friends. I'm so glad your daughter said she had a counselor to talk to. And she sounds like a strong, determined young lady. As so many other wise moms have said on here, continue to support and encourage her and let her know so many other moms are pulling for her and her success!!!
Hi Anna
Thank you so much for your kind words and I will share with her that all the Navy moms are cheering her on.
I'm sorry to hear that.....This letter is to you.
The you that's had a rough week.
The you that seems under constant storm clouds. The you that doesn't know how much longer you can hold on. The you that has lost faith. To you. You are incredible. You make this world a little bit more wonderful. You have so much potential and so many things left to do. You have time.
Better things are coming your way, so please hang in there, You can do it, YES! you can do it, you are there, YOU ARE DOING IT!
Hope she feels better
blessings and love
Azul thank you for your kind words. I will share this with her.
you are very welcome, my heart is with you and her

How is your daughter doing?
thedisneymom she attempted the run again because the swelling went down but the minute she started running she realized it was a mistake. They asked her if she wanted to stay 8 weeks heal and then go through FIT for running. She was crying as she was talking to me tonight. She was like what do I do mom? I want to come home. But I worked so hard. I can’t do another 8 weeks here. I need you mom. I told her that I am so proud of her and I will support whatever decision she chooses. I told her only she can decide what is best for her as it’s her future. She stopped crying and said I have time to think this through. They are giving her until Wednesday to decide. They said they would give her a RE code most likely if she decided to go home. Doesn’t sound like they want her to go home. Her RDC sees the fight in her. We are just at a standstill waiting for her decision. I’m praying she sticks it out for her because this is a dream for her. I don’t want her regretting later. I know I get sad every time I think back to giving up my air force dream. I was in ROTC slated to be enlisted as an E3 but I fell inlove and that was It for me. Next thing you know I am married with children. Thank you for checking in on us. I should have an update by the end of this week. BIG hug
Oh I hope she decided to tough it out and stay, heal, and then train for that run. She has worked so hard up to this point and I know she is discouraged with having to stay on and not move forward, but please encourage her to give it a shot. I would also hate to have her regret that she gave up too soon. Yes, she's lonely, and she's going to see all her fellow shipmates that she was with move on, and I'm sure she's homesick. Please let her know I'm praying for her for quick but complete healing, and the strength to push on!!!
