So my son left for boot camp Monday 8/5. I know his flight landed about 830 am. It’s now almost 1am and I haven’t got the “I’m here” call. Is it normal to be this late? We are in the same time zone. I know he will be up all night but thought the call would come sooner

Did you get your phone call? My son called around 9pm it was a really fast call.

Sometimes the call doesn't come in - either he didn't have a phone to use (maybe his died) and no one else had one he could borrow.  Either way know that he is there!  The call would have been a scripted 30 second (or less) call with lots of yelling going on in the background - so if it makes you feel any better at least you didn't have to hear that.  Hang in there - hopefully you'll get a call around the 3 week mark.

Katymom5 sometimes if there phone died they will not be able to call, his phone may have lost all the charge, so when this happens they may not be able to call for the I'm here call. as they have no phones for them to make this call. Usually someone with a phone would lend their phone. This happened when my Son went in, he was told not to take his phone but luckily enough a young man offered my Son his Phone to use and call me. Hopefully in the days to come he will be able to make a call and let you know that he is ok.

yes he finally got to call at 1:30am  he gave us the info on the letter and the box and said his back was hurting from all the sitting around all day.  I don't think he will have that problem today :)

Yay!  Glad the call came in....and you're right - he won't be doing much sitting around now lol!
