While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

how many weeks at Boot Camp
My son just shipped out on Monday ( Aug 12th) and whilst I know there are no guarantees that he will be graduating with the rest of his group I am very confused about the time lines.
I have heard different things from different people.
I know it is 8 weeks and PIR is on a Friday, so my question is , is it 8 weeks from the following Friday ( which would be 8 weeks and 4 days ) or is it 8 Monday to Friday weeks? ( 7 weeks and 4 days )
Does that make sense ?

Hi Claire - the safest thing is to count 9 Fridays - so you would be looking at a possible 10/11/19 PIR. But, it could go a week either way. Best thing is to wait until you receive the official letter.

My son arrived at boot camp on Tuesday, 7/23/19. They were "in hold" until Sunday, 7/28 waiting for their DIV to fill up. He's in 947. Their PIR is 9/27. That means he will have been there for 10 Fridays by the time he graduates. So, yes, you can count and guess all you want, but you won't know for sure until you get that form letter! :D #NavyLife #HurryUpAndWait

Sandra - the official letter takes about 9-14 days from when they arrive. Be sure to join the boot camp group - I left the link in the welcome message on your page. You'll find answers to most of your questions in that group!
