Hello N4M Members!
I don’t often start threads and put them on the top of the page like this but it’s important and I need everyone to read it. We’ll be enforcing some new rules starting today per direction of the Navy. No need to get upset or panic… okay? I like to call this the growing pains of getting bigger and needing to become a bit stricter about a few things.

1. So, Navy saw it as a breach of security on N4M’s when members were telling other members how to bend and break the rules (IE get into PIR w/o a parking pass). Thus, any tricks like that can’t be talked about. We don’t want to jeopardize the safety of our recruits. This also includes, “I have more than 4 people that want to attend PIR”. If we see that question- the response should be something like:
“Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL is the homeport for all Navy recruit training. If you have specific questions regarding Boot Camp, Pass-in-Review (graduation) or a recruit, please visit http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/family/index.html. If you cannot find the answer there, please phone RTC Public Affairs on 847-688-2405 or email on rtc.pao@navy.mil.”

2. Sailor last names are not allowed to be posted. We know in this day and age, that often your children have different last names than you. So, it’s up to you on if you want your last name on here or not, but the Navy is telling us- Do not post sailors last name. You can say my son’s name is John. Just not John Smith.
For people that want to now change their user name... you can find out how to do it here.

3. Remove physical addresses of sailors. (Exception to the rule is FPO address).
It’s not necessarily that our sailors don’t want to be contacted by our sweet Navy Members…it’s more that we have to be sensitive to their privacy. Even if you wanted to post your sailor’s address or your sailor’s friends address, please don’t.

4. Please do not post any names/numbers of the RTC Staff.

So, obviously- easy quick changes on your end. Please go through your profiles, posts, photos, groups, events and videos to make sure the above is deleted and/or edited out. Obviously, I’ll be going through and deleting things as well but it’s helpful if you look over your own stuff.

Thank you for reading this and editing/deleting any of your comments in advance.

Shell, warm? what a great idea!! You are still on my list of persons that I MUST meet. But I won't bring a snow shovel to ND.
we are having a get to gether next summer, (between SD and ND) details will be more set after we find out how much time our teacher members have to make up at the end of the year.
Gah. :oP TY Kat's Mom. CC
Ladies, I am not here to point fingers or make anyone feel bad about this. And IMHO- many of the things that were said were said in complete innocence (IE Looking for PIR 5th ticket for grandma). This is a small storm we have weather- and we need to support each other and look out for each other. We all know better now- and if we forget- we have the guidelines and members like you to remind us. CC
Sound like good rules to me I just wanted to meet other moms not get anyone in trouble or hurt. Keep the faith Navy Moms....Our Sons and Daughters need our help and support.
Thanks, I'll check over my stuff. Don't want to jeapordize anything in regards to my son. Keep up the good work and thanks for creating this website for us. I saw a commercial for the first time about Navy For Moms. Thought that was really neat.
I couldn't agree more with these rules. Thanks so much!
Thank you, Catherine. It's important for us all to observe good sense rules when posting anything online. I'm taking this as a reminder to go through my N4M page and my MySpace page to make sure I haven't posted anything that I or my kids (or the Navy) wouldn't want everyone to know.
Hi Lynn, This is Mary P. I read your Little posting to Catherine, This is a togh job, My son graduated on Sept.l19,I was thrilled at first of the progress he had made, but he started A school in Pensacola, and depression and confusion are an issue, I hope we can all discuss this demon.... Mary P.
Mary P: I have no problem with issues like yours that need to be talked about. I think most people know I'm very okay with subjects like that. CC
Thank You for allowing us to have this site for us to find and establish meaningful friendships with those are really are in our own shoes! With out community guidelines and policies to follow there wouldn't be meaningful friendships and a sense of security of our loved ones. We appreciate all that you do!
Hi Katherine and other Moms of the Navy:My question is : My son is in Pensacola graduated boot camp on Sept. 19. I really want to do what,s right for him I know he has some depressing issues right now, I really don,t know how involved I should be at this point in time, I and my family need a real Navy support group to help us out with how much we should become in his day to day program!!! Let me say there are alot of family concerns he is dealing with, I hope he can get the best of care for himself... If he is reading this , His btrother at home shouldn,t be his concern I talked with his brother Bill this morning, He really wants his brother to achieve and become a member of the best people in America, the U.S Navy!!!!!!!
