Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son is in week 2. My understanding is that it got very real for the new recruits. I keep reminding myself that no news is good news. Hugs to all of you who are missing your kids tonight.

Mama Scha -- You are in the Hardest part of BC!! The Silence is deafening!!  Yes. No News is Good News but that does not soothe an aching momma heart!! {{{NMH}}}} You will get through this and look back and realize it was truly such a short period of time! 

Hang in there!

We are bursting with pride over his decision to join the Navy. I’m so excited to see the growing up he will do over the next year.

Right there with you girl! This has been the longest 2 weeks of my life and I’m sure it definitely has been for him. Hang in there, hopefully we get letters this week!

My Daughter got to boot camp 9/24/19. I got her first letter 10/10/19. She says it’s really tough, just like the movies! But she’s hanging in there. I’m missing her terribly, and am so proud of her. Prayers to all the families who are missing their kids tonight. 

Hugs to you Mama Scha. My son is in his fifth week, but was in P-Days from September 4-September 16. It was agonizing until I got the form letter and his first (three!) letters exactly two weeks after he arrived. It does get easier. And I do recommend joining your PIR group, and others if you know what his rate is going to be. I have "met" some wonderful, strong women on this site. You will too! We all have your back!

To all the newer moms on here, hang in there! The weeks I wasn't able to communicate with my son were the worst for both if us. As soon as you get the form letter, write as much and as often as you can. Our kids depend on comfort coming from our words from home. I'm in that last week. The communication dies down now as well. The only thing getting me through is waiting for that " I'm a sailor" call. May God grant our kids and us parents peace and rest tonight. Hugs to you all!

My Daughter will be fine 3 weeks tomorrow. Got the form letter last Monday and a letter from her last Friday. Missing her terribly. Prayers to all the moms with kids in boot camp tonight . We will get thru this❤️

Mama Scha - and others missing your kids / recruits, I have started recognizing over the course of the last 2 + years and 3 birthdays that my son has been in, that everything they go through, and everything that we go through is all training for on down the line. At BC - it is hard! But the Navy is hard. The silence is awful for those of us use to talking to our kids every day and even hugging them every day - but when they go on radio silence in the fleet - well we look back and know that at least at this silence we knew exactly where they were suppose to be. 

We hold on to the "No News is Good News" and our prayers and stay strong ourselves for our children and our family. Which is why this is such a great place to come and share our emotions and know that we will not be judged. 

Hugs to you and the other BC Moms - A suggestion, I started writing emails to my SR when he first went it and then I copied those and printed and mailed. But that way, he had all of my words of encouragement in his email for later that he could download if he wished to his computer or phone and have it with him always!! Also, every time I opened up a communication to him I had his smiling face looking back at me!

Prayers have been answered, 1st letter is coming today!! I just got picture of it thru email (informed delivery USPS), I’m so excited I can hardly stand it!! Thanks to veteran moms for all the words of encouragement and praying all you other bc moms hear from your babes soon!

Hello texasNavyMom ... you’ll be Receiving your first letter? Soooooo excited for you. I still remember that feeling. Enjoy reading it. I for one read my letter too many times. I’m so Happy for you.
