Thanks so much for the info. Missing him awful. I am hoping he's getting my sandboxx letters. I can't wait to hear from him. Wonder when I will get call?

Congrats Sandy! Looks like you can attend PIR in person!! My experience is from 2019. At the conclusion of graduation, they announce "Now hear this, now hear this...Liberty call, Liberty Call!" Now you are free to go hug your sailor! We took ours to lunch and spent the afternoon together. After dinner he had to be back (8ish?) to prepare to go to the airport at 1:30 am. So, we dropped him off, went to hotel and slept for 2 hours then got up to meet him at ORD. The Navy is great to give family "gate passes" so you can go through security and spend those precious hours with them before they fly off to their A School. We spent the next 6 or 7 hours visiting with him and his buddies as they all awaited their flights. I wouldn't trade that time for anything! I thought I would be tired but I was so excited to hear their stories and watch them interact that I didn't care about sleep! Each sailor's journey is different. You will find out the week of PIR about your son's flight plans. Most leave less than 24 hours after PIR. ENJOY THE RIDE!

Hi all son left for bootcamp July 20th for GL. I know we have to wait for formal letter to know when grad is. He's going to FL for school so I think he gets one day of liberty we can spend with him. After grad can you spend time with them?
