DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Ignore the first part since your recruit has left. Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 3 weeks (ish) and the 8 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)
I also encourage you to join us on the Main Boot Camp Moms page (It's at the top here where it says Back to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) Discussions) Scroll down toward the bottom and you'll see the main discussions happening. There are several moms with the same PIR date but they may not have seen this post.
My son is division 391, PIR 10/15. Counting down!!
So excited for them. Wish this covid would go away so that we can see them in person. Very happy though that will have phones back and we can skype. Have an amazing day.
Goodchoicesmom - Each command in the Navy has their own specific rules with regards to sailors leaving or having visitors. Once your sailor gets established at his A school or duty station, he will have a better idea of what he may or may not be able to do as far as leave. All the best to them as they finish BC strong and move on!!
He will be staying at Great Lakes for 20ish weeks for sure ( last I knew). Do you know anything specific to their rules?
Goodchoicesmom - My sailor did not go to GL for his A school. If you ask in the main BC Mom comment section (look below the discussion section) and ask, I know that a couple of them went to GL.

Thank you Chipmunk. I just joined a couple more groups. Such a change for me now that he has his phone back. Just knowing that he can call me if he needs anything has lifted so much worry off my shoulders. Now I can just take a (difficult) step back and let him grow and learn about adulting. At this stage in his Naval career, I have less to worry about than if he were in college:-) Going to enjoy that while I can because the worry will all be back eventually. Thanks for all that you do with this group. I didn't comment much along the way but was great relief to read some of the other comments and know that I wasn't alone on my emotional rollercoaster nor was I being irrational;-) Thanks again. Hope all is well with your sailor. Have a great night!
goodchoicesmom - You are welcome!! I am glad that you were able to receive encouragement and comfort from the group. Knowing you have some ability to communicate your sailor does make a big difference!!
To answer your other question, in case DsMom doesn't notice, her son is at Nuke school.
Thank You
