Whoop Whoop 8 days until PIR :):)  We got a letter last night, I suspect it will be the last.  It was from before Christmas!  It's getting close! Yea!

I watched one video and the divisions seem to go by the camera so fast.  I was hoping for a little more.  So wish I could hug and celebrate my son in person. That is great that yours will stay close by.  If mine goes to Pensacola then he will be within driving distance also.  I just hope seeing him will be a possibility.  My sister lives an hour from Pensacola so that is a plus.  I wish I knew for sure that is where he is going next.  Counting down the days!

14 days! Yes!  So crazy, it will go by really fast for them now!  I haven't heard any news...so that is good!  Yes, I remember the days of little ones around the holidays.  Keeps you extra busy.  I only have one left at home and she's 16 so not too crazy!  LOL.  Glad to see you on here, I'm in and out during the week because of work and family so I get it! Hugs!

Good morning.  So glad to hear from you.  I think its great that our SR's have become friends and I hope they stay in touch.  I am not 100% sure where my son will be going to A school yet but we have an idea. He may know by now.  My husband spoke to his HR department and believes they were able to get our son removed but will have to check on next pay day.  I was thinking we would have to provide proof also.  I am trying to think of something to do for the graduation especially since we can't attend in person. Someone mentioned tshirts & signs and taking pics to send to their phone.  Any Ideas?  It won't be long now.  My phone is staying glued to me.

My husband and I have already said several times today that it was so nice hearing from our son.  I just feel better.  I asked him about his wisdom teeth and he said since they have already come through and they are not hurting he was told he did not have to have them out right now.  He was able to get a teeth cleaning.  I added some more money to his calling card also.  I dont want any reason that he cant call home.  Sounds like they are in a good division.

Hi, my son also has had his wisdom teeth out so that's great.  My other son in the USCG had them removed the last week before his boot camp grad...he looked like a chipmunk!  Our oldest sounded really good and said the div was coming together.  So glad we got our call yesterday, it does make you feel a bit more relaxed! HA!

Just checking in, I hope you got the call.  It was later in the afternoon.  Let me know...I know it's hard waiting for that call!  BIG HUGS!

We got a call from our son a little while ago.  He told us his division was getting to call home.  Did you get a call?  He did mention that they were initially told they lost the chance but I guess gained it back. I think we spoke to him for about 45 minutes.  He could not give me an answer on whether they were going to be able to call home on Christmas.  I will take what I can get and just so happy for the longer call today.  I do hope you heard from your SR.

Hi Proud and Grateful, I've been pretty busy and the Holidays have been really hard for me.....Just trying to make the best of it. I don't like mentioning it to much. I try and keep my composure as best as I can. I try to keep positive and told myself to always smile even if times are rough so I've been doing pretty good with that. Things have been pretty rough for everyone, and I get it...Hoping for a better year next year God willing! thank you for checking on me. Much appreciated. with much Love and respect!

Sandboxx was easy and I just did one letter for $4.  I attached a picture also.  I just wanted to get a letter to him quickly at first but then am also sending out letters regular mail.  Another mom mentioned Monday Delivery that sends postcards and you have the option of downloading your own photo for the front of card.  I got my first one free for signing up.  So you may want to look at that also.  It was easy.  Are you hearing that some are having to go back into ROM?

At 7:50pm on December 16, 2020, DoriBry said…

Since I got mine today you should get yours hopefully tomorrow.  I will cross my fingers for you.  I have already sent a letter through Sandboxx and three letters through regular mail.  My husband also wrote one.  My son left a list of people who he wanted me to give his address to so had to make sure they all had it.  I hope they all send him a letter.  I even offered to provide them with stamps since I am not sure how many young people have those on hand.  Like you, its nice knowing their PIR date since it gives us a sort of end date to this first stage.  I have my fingers crossed.

Be sure to join your PIR group once you have a date. The site admins got the Jan 2021 group started so that is good! Usually it is made up of those that are already on the BC Mom group but since it is private, closed group you can share a little more there.

Yes I got it today.  I have informed delivery so knew it was coming today.  That will be great if our boys are in the same division.  Ship 14 Div 086.  Please let me know when you find out.

Hi PandG!

Yea for PIR 1/28...praying that they stay on track and don't get bumped back due to illness etc.  Always on pins and needles if the phone rings!  LOL!  Welcome the group!

Yes I am hoping also that we receive a call from our son on Christmas.  The first time he called it was a saturday and thats when he was going in isolation.  The second time was on a Thursday afternoon but he was calling for a specific reason and was only given a couple of minutes.  But us moms will take whatever time we can get.  He did mention that he sent out his form letter.  I will cross my fingers that we both get ours some time this week.  My son was able to give me his division number but as you probably read on my post I forget to get his ship # and I need that.  I will keep you updated.  Have a great Monday.

Proud and grateful - I know you are busy as we all are, but I wanted to say thank you for posting and sharing with everyone on BC and especially encouraging the other new members as well. The more the newest members post the more you can reach out to each other and make connections. It looks like you have been networking and that is good. This site can be hard to maneuver, especially on a mobile device so if anyone needs help please don't hesitate to ask me.

Have a wonderful day!!

I am so sorry about not responding to your message.  I am just now discovering I have a comment wall.  Yes, I have heard from him and he is doing ok.  Have you heard from your SR yet?

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 8 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting)
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend)
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later)
All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 8 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining if kids get sick)

proud and grateful we are glad you have joined the BC Mom group. I just wanted to say hi. Please go stop by the main group page and read the information just posted and also introduce yourself down in the comment area. (You will need to scroll down most of the page past the information and discussion area to the comment wall.)  That is where we do most of our chatting and those messages are what are more likely to be viewed by many more in the group.

I will be off and on the next few weeks but I wanted to welcome you to the group and give you BNMHs (Big Navy Mom Hugs) - Be sure to ask any questions you have there. If you ask me, that is fine but I might not get back to you until later tonight. :-(
