Hi Tadpole!!!  Welcome to the board!  If you scroll down a little there is a place to jump right on the board. It’s kind of weird in that it is ever moving down there!  Everyone will be happy to meet you and welcome you aboard!  Please feel free to ask any questions you may have!  Someone will always answer.  There are moms at every step of this journey on the board. Some that are preparing for their loved one to leave for bootcamp, through all stages of bootcamp, some who have loved ones that have graduated and moved on to A School, some in the fleet, and some who have completed their contracts and are out of the military. Welcome to the group!!!

Shanny & Northwoodsmom - Thanks for sharing!

Welcome Tadpole, glad you found us too. Post on the main page and let us know where your recruit is on their journey.  Our they at Fort McCoy or at GL, or maybe hasn't left yet. You will find everyone compassionate and encouraging. Many have gone through this process during Covid and will help to put your mind at ease. Welcome again.

Hi Tadpole,

I am glad to see that you have joined BC Mom group! As Shanny shared please come find us down in the comment section, just keep scrolling down. I don't recall all that I posted on your My Page, but we are glad you are here. This site can take some getting use to, I posted a message in the comment wall earlier today about the various ways to communicate on this site. Go back a couple of pages in the BC Mom group. Reading through those will help to acquaint you with some of the members in the group.

Thank you all for the Love. Northwoodsmom my son left on Dec 9th for GL. He should be finishing up with quarantine in a day or so.

Welcome!! Please read my blog to give you an idea of what the first few weeks may look like.. First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition Up and to the Left is a link to all the Navy Lingo! It is titled Navy Speak and you can find it here. We are here to get you through the “Great Silence” of the next 4 weeks (ish) and the 8 weeks of BC (ish). You will come to learn that No News Is GOOD News and everything is Needs of the Navy. You life will be Hurry Up and Wait and it’s ok to make plans but they are subject to change until after they have happened so it’s best to embrace the Motto: Semper Gumby!! (Always Flexible!!)

The Expected timeline will look like this
Day 0 -- Travel, Arrival and "I'm Here" scripted phone call
Day 1-14 -- ROM (Restriction of Movement/ Quarantine-- Lots of studying and waiting)
Day 15-21 Arrive Onboard RTC and begin P-days (P-days- Initial Processing Days) including 2 days of P-hold (Weekend)
Day 21-- Complete P days. (Initial PFT & Run)
Day 22-- Begin training and mail form letter out. Look for it to arrive around 1-2 weeks later)
All of this is assuming no exposure to COVID with additional ROM
Training typically occurs Monday - Friday but we have heard rumors that Saturday’s are now training days as well.
Normal PIR will be 8 Fridays after departure from Home but it can be less by 1 but it can be extended by ???? (lots!!) It just depends on how many times they get caught in the “Ring of Fire” but do not get COVID. IF they get COVID, Once they are recovered they will not be removed from training again even if they are in the “Ring of Fire”. (so there is that small silver lining if kids get sick)
I Hope you’ll come and join us on the Main Boot Camp Moms page: https://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms You may have to scroll down a ways to reach the comments but we’d love to get to know you and answer any questions or concerns you may have or just be a support from others who “get it”.

Thanks beloved by him. What is “Ring of Fire).

Tadpole, my understanding of "Ring of Fire" is that small group of SRs that are bunked around each other. The ones that your SR may have been in closest contact with if they run a fever or another recruit does.

Welcome Tadpole!! It is good that you are here. Welcome to our group. Let us know if you have any questions and someone will answer. No question is ever dumb. Hope to see you on the comment board!!

That is good to know when he left. Welcome again.  :)
