Hi!  I am new to this group and so proud to be a member!  My recruit arrived at RTC 7/19/21 and my understanding is he will be in quarantine two weeks (even though he is vaccinated).

My question is when should the form letter arrive?

Thank you!

Good Morning - the form letter will usually arrive around the 4 week mark.  But with that being said it could arrive anywhere from 2 weeks to who knows when lol.

Pre-covid it was pretty safe to say when it would arrive - post COVID it's anyone's guess....go ahead and start writing your letters now, # them in the corner and then as soon as you receive your SR's letter you can put them all in the mail.

Hang in there!

Thank you so much for the prompt response!  Question, should I use the Sandboxx app for letters.  My recruits stepmom suggested it.

Here is a link to info I have posted regarding the Sandboxx app.  The ONLY time it is suggested to be used is during boot camp.  After they it should not be used as it is an OPSEC violation.  Remember that any info you put in the letter can be seen by others so please be careful what you send.

Sandboxx app

My oldest son arrived at BC on June 3rd. He had received his second dose, but a full two weeks had not passed by the time he left, so he was held in quarantine for 9 days. My middle son did not get vaccinated before he left for BC on July 8th, so he was going to do the full 14days. My oldest daughter is fully vaccinated, and has been told that she will only be held until her vaccination can be verified, so maybe only a couple of days. She leaves August 10th.

Thank you!  Good to know. I have no idea if he took proof of being vaxxed with him or gave to recruiter.

mdb9903, my understanding is the form letter will be arriving approximately in 4 weeks. 2 weeks of quarantine and then another 2 weeks of actual BC. After they verify the vaccination yours might only have to quarantine for 3-4 days and then after they start BC it is about 2 weeks they will mail out the form letter so you might receive it before the 4 week mark. Welcome to the Navy Semper Gumby, stay flexible things will change.

Thank you!  LOVE THE MOTTO!

mdb9903 - Welcome Aboard!! We are glad you have joined us. If you haven't scrolled through the BC Mom & Loved One group page much, please do so. Welcome mbd9903,

We are glad that you are here. Start writing now so when the form letter comes you can mail your letters off right away. Also, keep your phone on you at all times and your ringer on loud. Your just never know when a call will come thru.
When you can post on the comment wall. That is where we all comment and answer questions. A lot of us find it’s easier to use the laptop than our phones when we are on this site.
Big hugs to you and welcome again.

Thank you!

So many emotions ugh. Cannot what to hug my boy. So does navy lodge provide shuttle to and from airport? And then back and forth to grad?

They had limited shuttles when we were there 8 years ago.  We rented a car and drove but with the current market... Uber or Sarge's Taxi may be your best bet.  I don't know if they are doing the shuttle yet... You will have to ask when you call to make reservations.  COVID changed so many things so those of you getting In person PIR will have to share with us because we just don't know how things have changed from 2 years ago to now.
