For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

SERE

My son is going to SERE tomorrow in Maine... I know he will be ok but it worries me it will be so cold there these next two weeks. Anyone out there who had aviators who attended SERE during the winter?

My son went to SERE in Maine the winter. You have no reason to worry. Your son will be fine.

My DS did SERE in the desert in the summer, so no, but the staff are watching them closely. I won't say don't worry...hah...not possible. But he will make it. They won't let real harm happen. But, I do remember that first phone call afterwards. Major relief. Prayer and distraction got me through. Hang in there.

Thanks Cheri for your support. Desert in the summer sounds just as bad as Maine in the winter! HA! Yes, as my son told me, they spent too much money on me to get me to this point to let anything hapen to me. So I am not exactly worried, too much....

Just wanted to let you know that my son made it through SERE. But it was very cold, sub zero temperatures the whole time.

BZ to your son - what a warrior! I can't even imagine what that would be like in such cold weather. brrrrrr

He said one night his feet were so cold he could not go to sleep. About 5 of them got frostbite on their hands and feet and two of them had to leave SERE due to that. Luckily he was not one of them!
