Sometimes we I get our ETs and FCs confused or simply not sure which sailors are what rate so it was suggested that we start a new list so if you don't mind signing in to the the appropriate forum...I won't call your sailor an FC, if you don't call my sailor an ET!!! :-D

My Sailor is an FC, named Nick and he is currently in C school @ Dahlgren

By the way, it is a lovely sunny day in Minnesota - about 6 above +
Sorry to here that, it is sunny and 74 in Daytona Beach, FL
Barbara,
Just think - we have a lot in common:
Our kids are sailors
We both had sunny weather
Only major difference is the degrees!
My son, Kyle, is FC3 (FCSN). He completed his C school in Dam Neck, VA on October 9th and is now in fleet stationed on the USS Essex in Sasebo, Japan.
Hi to all,
Our sailor said today would be her last day pre-req classes and that tomorrow she would be actually starting classes for FC. However since the Navy motto is ' hurry up and wait', wondering any others have heard this will actually happen tomorrow?
Hmmmm Pine, I wonder if that means she finished SCC (?) or Indoc (?) both are pre-reqs for the FC program - actual requirements for every rate. It takes a while to figure this all out!!! :-D
Mary,
Our sailor tends to talk quickly and throws out all the slang terms and while she gets frustrated with my ' what does that', I am lost . The two terms sound like something had said. All we know is that she has done the evening classes. She did state A School would be broken in different slang terms . . . While our Sailors are so into the Navy lingo - we at home get lost trying to figure out what part of her career she is in. I do know that I will need to read the comments & print it out to absorb this lingo.
Hi everyone! Long time since I've been on here - sorry about that! I'm dealing with a lot of health issues currently and it takes a lot for me to sit on the computer but I miss all of you!! Anyway - Dan completed A school and finally got his orders for C school. He is going to VA with the Aegis Computer System. I have so many mixed feelings - but I am so proud of him!

Does anyone know if C school is similar to A school at GL (as far as what they can and can't have)? I know Dan is excited as well as nervous - it's new to him. He is leaving GL, he's been there since March 25th. Does anyone have any advice?! Thanks! Peg
Peg - Nick was able to take his cell phone with him. His laptop was having some issues so he left that at home for some service work but I will be shipping it today. Dan can take clothes, Nick is totally jazzed about the living arrangements there - he has alot of space, no roommate and a frid, stove, pots and pans if I understand correctly and it is warmer in Dahlgren than....Great Lakes!!!
HEE HEE - I was a basket case when Danny left to drive to Dahlgren. He actually drove back up to GL and picked another sailor up, they drove together to Dahlgren. I was a little more relived he had a driving buddy and I FINALLY talked him into getting a hotel. At least he did listen to me about the hotel idea. He said they both needed to get out of the car - it was a LLLOOOONNNNGGG drive for someone who has never driven more than 2 hours at a time. LOL!

They did make it to Dahlgren on Wednesday - he does call quite often now because he gets a little lonely - or bored?! He does have one room mate. Dan stated that the rooms remind him of a motel with two private rooms. Yes, there is a fridge and a stove....His washer and dryer are actually right outside his room - so, he really doesn't have to go far.......He kept telling me that he is surprised at how much different things are at Dahlgren than at GL. I tried to explain that every place is different, once he finishes C school I said who knows what it will be like - so, enjoy this while you can. LOL!!!!

Dan's classes begin on Monday - he wanted this job, so he is so excited! He doesn't remember siging anything to request for Aegis Computer Systems, isn't with the FC program - first come first serve - do the jobs randomly open and that is the "list" that the sailors choose from?! I am so confused.....what's new, huh?!
Hi to all,
Our sailor left a message stating she is done with INDOC & SCC - she is now on hold for A School. It is a balmy day here at - 21 which does not include the wind chill. Stay warm and remember that Spring is just around the corner!
Spring in GL...comes much later than spring in most areas!! :-D
