Sometimes we I get our ETs and FCs confused or simply not sure which sailors are what rate so it was suggested that we start a new list so if you don't mind signing in to the the appropriate forum...I won't call your sailor an FC, if you don't call my sailor an ET!!! :-D

My Sailor is an FC, named Nick and he is currently in C school @ Dahlgren

My son is an FC2, attached to the USS Dubuque based in San Diego. He is currently in Iraq, finishing out his second deployment, this time as an IA manning a C-RAM. He did "seawhiz" (CIWS) school in San Diego. He has been awarded the Navy Achievement Medal...I was told that was a very high honor.
Congrats Pamela!!! Thats great. What is "seawhiz" school? my son tells me so little, I have to drag it all out of him. It sounds like a very high honor. How long has he been in?
Pamela, Congrats to your son on his Achievement Medal and his coming home early!
Wow Pam, I didn't know about the achievement honor. Thats fabulous. I'd like to know more about the CIWS since thats what my sons doing. He wants to go to IRAQ also. did you say he was on the Dubuque?
Kandie - Welcome! You are reading correcting; ATT/A/ATT for the FCs - classes are self-paced, computer modules and they can take 5 -8 months to complete. The FC and ET rates do qualify for the spouses to be moved to GL, they can also have their cars while at A school. Let me know if you have questions, we are an FC family.
Oh yea! Welcome Sarah - I've read alittle bit about The Sullivans. Is this your hubby's first ship? How long has he been with the fleet?
Hello I have a FC2 with the Mobile Bay, out of San Diego. He really loves it out there.
Hi , My son has just finished at Great Lakes and is an FC. Where can they go for C school? We have been up to pick orders twice and each time they say "we have not orders to pick from at this time" Try back next Wednesday. And do you know if there are specific bases that that rate will be based out of? When did your Nick graduate from Boot?
Thanks for any info you can pass along!
Lea
Lea - if he gets AEGIS, c-school is in Dahlgren, VA; anything else will either be Dam Neck, VA or San Diego; it all depends on what system he gets a school for. As for what bases, again it depends on the system and what ships have that system on it.
Hey Lea. Congratulations to your Sailor!! Please keep us posted on what orders he gets. There are definitely specific bases for FCs, as Nancy outlined below it will be one of three locations. Our son is in Dahlgren for Aegis. As far as them telling your son, no orders - check back, do not be alarmed by that. The budget was only recently approved and they are still processing the orders. One of our ET sailors went thru this last week and bamm - great orders showed up.
My son is an FC, just got his orders to leave Great Lakes and go to Dam Nack for C school for Mark 160...anyone know what it's like?
He'll like it a LOT better than GL......lol. And then if he doesn't have a car or can figure out the bus systems, he should plan on *expensive* cab fares. It seemed like it was almost always about $40 round trip for my son to get anywhere in town if he needed to take a cab - things got better once he got his car.
