Hello Everyone! It is my privilege to choose our March Group! First, though, I must extend hearty anniversary wishes to Navy for Moms.com! Yesterday I consulted with my "posse" who write letters and add to the boxes every month. They are ages 2 through 11. We looked at maps and anysailor. We are going to Kuwait this mont

I know that I have big shoes to fill considering my excellent predecessors but I pray you will all join me in showering these brave sailors with some N4M love! Pat

From the Sailor: PO2 Juan C. Caban

26 Feb 2009:
We are a Unit that operates 24/7 Medevac Services in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Our living conditions a average. electricity is 220 but we all buy converters for 110. food items requested are healthy snacks. we have a microwave and fridge. we basically will take anything...although transportation is a big issue (bicycles/MT bikes would be awesome!) This unit is from 4 different squadrons. 1 in Guam and 3 in San Diego. Thank you for you love and appreciation!
MT bike is a Mountain Trail bike ladies!!! Them aren't cheap!! Maybe we could all chip in financially and see how much money we can gather up just between us. We could also ask Walmart or wherever we get them if we can get discounts for our Miilitary! They should, don't you think?

I'll have to ask my Walmart, we are a very small town, but we support our troops! Let's do a lot of praying about this. Can't take too long though, this month has 31 days and 3 days are already gone! But I am confident that we can do this.

Sounds like the weather is pretty perfect right now. Snowing out here! LOL
Average mail from the States to Kuwait is about 10-14 days

c. Do not mail the following items:

• Any matter containing religious material contrary to the Islamic faith. This refers to material that speaks out negatively against Islam and material sent in bulk in an effort to convert or evangelize. It is acceptable to send a Bible or religious tape.
• Any matter depicting nude or semi-nude persons, pornographic, or sexual items.
• Any matter containing nonauthorized political material. This refers to material that could be used to impose our political view on the host country. It does not prohibit mailing a US flag or a picture containing a flag.
• Firearms.
• Pork or pork by-products.
• Alcoholic beverages and materials used in the production of alcoholic beverages (distilling material, hops, malts, yeast, etc.).
• Securities, currency, or precious metals in their raw, unmanufactured state.

Letter mail is not being opened unless it appears unusually bulky. Parcel mail is being examined on a spot-check basis to determine conformity with host country customs regulations and for terrorist-type mailing.
Wow Shell --------- good find on the info.
Your always keeping us on the straight and narrow. (thats a good thing for me because I can go off in my own little world of supporting and forget there are rules) HUGS to you Momma Bear
Thanks Shell for all the important information. You are just a well of great info!! Thanks>
I just got off the phone with Oriental trading party supply. click here They do ship to apo, and for our particlure address mailing would take 9 to 11 days. Whoo hoooo, I am sending Paddy Party to them, and a bunch of beach balls and footballs.
That is so cool!! They are all going to have a great time with your stuff!! You are always thinking girl!! I need to do more of that!
Miss Molly and Pat question - Would it be possible, feasible, managable for all of us who would like to contribute to getting another bike or two and the shipping costs to send checks to one of you? It would be so great to be able to do more than one bike if we can not overwhelm you guys with the arrangements. Since this group is smaller, I know I would be ecstatic to put some of the money I would normally spend on other stuff toward more bikes. Just a thought to ponder......:) :>D
OK here is what we need to do (I think) Lets start looking for Bikes (they dont have to be nice/new bikes)
Im thinking they would like any bike as long as it works. Maybe we can even get 1 or a few donated ?

Then we need to figure out how to ship a bike. And the cost of that. Then our money for March could go into shipment costs (if we get donated bikes)

Anyone up for the asking for bike donations ---or finding cheap ones ?
Wait maybe we ask Post Office about shipping first ----dont want to end up with bikes and nothing to do with them :)

Pat what do you think here ? should we form a bike committee ? lol lol lol
I left a note with Chris to see if she would research the weight of a bike, and what/if there are size and weight limitations to packages going to this months area. I know for a fact that a bike in a box from a store is too big to ship to Africa and that all the boxes had to be under 70 pounds. But who knows for our area .....whoo hoooo. lol....I was thinking about bikes with playing cards in the spokes.....brooooom broooom
