Hello Everyone! It is my privilege to choose our March Group! First, though, I must extend hearty anniversary wishes to Navy for Moms.com! Yesterday I consulted with my "posse" who write letters and add to the boxes every month. They are ages 2 through 11. We looked at maps and anysailor. We are going to Kuwait this mont

I know that I have big shoes to fill considering my excellent predecessors but I pray you will all join me in showering these brave sailors with some N4M love! Pat

Molly, When I called UPS and FedEx, I was told that all APO/FPO had to be turned over to USPS.
Good Morning Moms! How are you all doing? I sent 14 pounds of reading books this morning. media mail, less then 10 bucks to mail. 9 days to get to apo office. Authors included King, Johansen,Grisham,Binchy,Witter, Ricks,Kinsella,Feehan, plus the harry potter series and the twilight series, Patterson,Gabaldon and Viguie. I sent 6 books on tape, the green mile, forever odd, and the lord of the rings series. Oh, and a bunch of postcards that they can send to anyone, and one self addressed postcard they may send to me.

:)
Just a thought here, Can we find out what command our sailors are from and have the bikes delivered to the command here in the states and have them ship them to the deployed sailors with a military supply shipment?
oh oh oh....has any one checked the nex?

Great Link Mel ----- keep that in your large info base could ya.

here is some of what it said ---

Most APO/FPO addresses have the following general restrictions:

Packages may not exceed 70 lbs. (Some zip codes have lower limits)
Packages may not exceed 130 inches in combined length and girth. (This means if you have a package that is 100" in length and 40" when you measure around it, you cannot send the item)
All packages must be sent via the U.S. Postal System. The post office also requires companies or individuals to hand deliver packages being sent to APO/FPO addresses. (This is one reason why many merchants won't ship to APO/FPO addresses.)
Firearms, alcohol, perishable foodstuffs and certain hazardous items also are restricted. Each zip code has a more detailed list of the restrictions for certain types of products.
For a complete description of the restrictions at your APO/FPO address, enter your zipcode in the box on the left. This database is kept current with the twice-monthly Postal Bulletin Publication, which outlines all APO FPO zip code changes. Please note that the customs forms mentioned in the restrictions apply to packages and not to typical letters that just weight a few ounces.

Hello All!
I have the offer of two donated bikes (used)... One of the young men I know will make sure they are in top working order and appropriate to ship. He will oil and check chain, new tires, etc. Also spoke with the local bike shops... They suggest that we ship the bikes assembled with the front wheel off... Easier to assemble when they arrive and the bikes should fit into boxes of appropriate size.

Is it OK to send gently used bikes??? Thanks all!
if we can figure out the package size allowed, any bike will be perfect Susan.
I agree I think that they would love anything. I will be getting 2 boxes in the mail Saturday. One with Soaps and lotions and another with snacks.
Love the offer of used bikes. This group is in Kuwait until Sept. so the bikes have to survive the sand for 6 months.
