Hi everyone! I am from Tyler and we live in East Fort Worth/Mid Cities area now. My son just had PIR on Friday and it was AWESOME!!! What a sight! And, walking around Chicago with him was such an honor! He leaves on Wednesday to head to SC for A school. He's in the Nuke program. I am loving it on this site and really got through him being gone for boot camp with our PIR group. It's great to see so many on here from our area and I bet there are even more!!!

Hope everyone's having a great night!! Go Navy!
Hi, my son lives in Groton and has for the past 5 years. He is on the USS Annapolis as a navigator. He's not real fond of the cold weather up there especially being from Fort Worth. He can't wait to get back to Texas and neither can I. Does your son know what kind of sub he wants to be on, fast attack or boomer? My son is soon to get off his boat and trying for shore duty.
I'm not sure but I'm thinking fast attack. I'm going to ask when I talk to him again. It'll be a while before he's on the fleet since he has school for so long. We'll see.
Hello,
My son was on the USS Greenville as a Torpedo Man. He is now re-enlisted and will be a Recruiter. Submariners are a special breed of Sailor. If you ever get a chance to go on the internet to the channel that did or may still do Extreme Machines...they did a special on submarines that my son said was very well done. I will definitely help you visualize what our submariners have to endure and it gives you peace of mind that however uncomfortable...they in many ways are safer than some of our kids driving in and around drunk drivers. However, I for one could not do what my son has done! I can barely ride an elevator! If I can be of any help please let me know.

Look for Texas Seawolf Mom and Texas Seawolf Dad, they are just south of Fort Worth and their son has been on a sub for 3 years. They can answer a lot of questions for you.
Charley
I have collected a long list of sites and videos about submarines. You can find them on my page, in the blog post "Lovely Links to Know." I'd also recommend reading the books, Big Red, by Douglas C. Waller, and Submarine, by Tom Clancy. Through the Government Printing Office, you can subscribe to the quarterly magazine, Undersea Warfare, which is fascinating! Hugs, k.
Oops! NOT "Lovely Links...!" Rather, look for "Tons of Info About Submarines." Sorry 'bout that! k.
Hi, I am moving to Keller in mid July. Our son is graduating boot camp on June 19 and then heading to SC for nuke school. He was originally set to graduate on 5/29, but he was moved to medical for three weeks. Just got out of the medical division back to a regular division so we are very excited that he is back on track. Going up for graduation and can't wait to see him. Any one else from the Keller area?
