OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Another mom from another forum, (actually the Navy website forum for parents) posted this last night. A guy in her son's division is lonely and has rec'd no mail! Unbelievable! They graduate next week, and battle stations is coming up. If any of you could zip a fast postcard or quick letter thanking this guy for his service, and hard work and dedication. Give him some support and sense of self-pride!
It has to be done fast, in just a day or two because of the graduation next week.
THANKS so much!
PM me and I'll give you his name and address.
Sad, huh?

My daughter has a shipmate in the same situation. I just wrote a general I miss you, we miss you and a cutesy excuse (all fake ) for not writing, Slipped it in the letter with mydaughters in its own little envelope, She said her friend got a kick out of it and shared a note back in a follow up letter that my new "other daughter" says hello!. Nice.
