Molly had the GREAT idea to send some N4M love to some of our military that are "hurting".
I am going to say that July 12 is the "birthday" of this endeavor. July 13 it got named!!
"M.A.S. Special Hugs" - M.A.S. - for Molly's Adopt a Sailor!!!

From Molly: Hey Moms ---- we are having some wounded guys coming our way. Would you like to make a thread and those who would like to send a card or messages to our wounded ones.

If you know of someone in the military "hurting" and needing a "special hug" - PM me (Brenda Sue) the address and I'll post it in our "special place." I do ask that you keep us updated on the condition or change of address of anyone that has a lingering need.

OK - Mom's let's get this ball on the roll!!

I am going to keep these names in one place - so people don't have to read through hundreds of pages to find them. Go to MAS We Ship Love (Click Here) for the addresses. This is a private group - just ask to be a member and after you have been "checked out" - the powers that be accept you!

Please use the labels designed in the "Shipping Labels" discussion so they will be easily recognized!!

You can either print these on stickers or just tape them to the envelopes. If neither is possible, just write Molly's Adopt a Sailor on the envelope - so they know where they are coming from.

thank you for this Brenda..def sending cards..!!
I got the Cricut Expression (a digital die cut machine) for my birthday and I have a whole bunch of blank cards. I just bought a new cartridge for the Cricut called 'Stand and Salute' and I'm going to start cutting military and Americana things and make some cards to send. I have a reason for playing with my toys, a really good reason!
I bought the Cricut at Joanns when they had it on sale and it came with two cartridges. I bought the Stand and Salute cartridge on ebay from www.ohmycrafts.com which sells them cheaper than retail and with free shipping was cheaper than Michael's on sale. Haven't played too much yet but so far I've found that there are about 6 different things you can do with each shape by pushing another button. I plan on playing a lot with it soon.
Unfotunately, there is another passing . Michael was a former sailor, Michael fought a valiant fight against cancer. He was only 27 years old. You can read more about Michael's story at the Janus Website. Please lift the family up in prayers.

Michael Andrew Dailey, 27, of Stafford, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Stafford Hospital Center.

Michael, a 2000 graduate of North Stafford high School, attended Old Dominion University and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Survivors include his parents, Theodore and Joan Dailey of Stafford; brother, Geoffrey Dailey and his wife Heather, of Pearl Harbor, HI and their son Jaxon; paternal grandmother, Thelma Dailey of Fayetteville, NY; great uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs James Dailey of Phillipsburg, NJ; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Quantico Marine Base Chapel with Chaplain Brent D. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to University of Virginia Cancer Center, C/O JANUS, http://januscharitychallenge.kintera.org/fl09/cortina
Is there an address where we can send sympathy cards?
Not yet Brenda. This is what I got off the Obit.
Can't wait to run to the store and pick up some cards and get them in the mail! Now I know what to do with all my free time! Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!

Hello my dear friends... another young man who could use some notes of support!! Here is his story from his moms page...

Damien shipped out for basic Sept.30,'08, PIR Nov.21, '08! Damien graduated FEB 2,'09 as a culinary specialist looking forward to serving on a submarine. Was also told the same day that he is being medically discharged from the Navy due to a condition found with his heart. It is repairable and he will see the cardiologist when he arrives home.

Received a "general discharge under honorable conditions" due to them claiming he had the condition prior and they had hired him on "erroneously". Possibly no benefits will be awarded after the six months in. The VA is investigating and has the case under review. He was VERY sad to go. Damien started his new civilian job May 26 as a chef in a local upscale restaurant.

6-24-09 Damien has been complaining of chest pains. I took him to ER, where they scheduled an immediate appointment with a cardiologist. Valve repair (open-heart) surgery was scheduled and performed 15th of July. He is doing well after surgery!

If you would like to send a card... here is his address...
