Molly had the GREAT idea to send some N4M love to some of our military that are "hurting".
I am going to say that July 12 is the "birthday" of this endeavor. July 13 it got named!!
"M.A.S. Special Hugs" - M.A.S. - for Molly's Adopt a Sailor!!!

From Molly: Hey Moms ---- we are having some wounded guys coming our way. Would you like to make a thread and those who would like to send a card or messages to our wounded ones.

If you know of someone in the military "hurting" and needing a "special hug" - PM me (Brenda Sue) the address and I'll post it in our "special place." I do ask that you keep us updated on the condition or change of address of anyone that has a lingering need.

OK - Mom's let's get this ball on the roll!!

I am going to keep these names in one place - so people don't have to read through hundreds of pages to find them. Go to MAS We Ship Love (Click Here) for the addresses. This is a private group - just ask to be a member and after you have been "checked out" - the powers that be accept you!

Please use the labels designed in the "Shipping Labels" discussion so they will be easily recognized!!

You can either print these on stickers or just tape them to the envelopes. If neither is possible, just write Molly's Adopt a Sailor on the envelope - so they know where they are coming from.

When sending a card to Ross, send an extra along to be shared with the other guys in the spinal cord unit. I'm sure we can send enough to support them all.
GREAT idea!!
It has been a couple of days since I recieved cards for Darren Tate's family so I will be packing them up and sending them tomorrow. Thank you to all that were able to send one to them. I know that they will appreciate each and every one of them!!

Comment by Darsete 1 day ago Delete Comment Good morning, last week a young corpsman who works with my son down in 29 Palms was injuried in a very serious car accident on his way back from the Phoenix area. He is now in the Desert Regional Medical Center in critical condition with injuries to his C 5 and C 6 area. His name is Chris, but everyone calls him Kujo. He was my sons roommate on their last deplaoyment. Kujo will finally be having surgery today to place his head in the halo. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. If you are a member of facebook you can go to the following link and view the families updates: http://www.facebook.com/GetWellKujo Thanks for your thoughts and prayers
Perfect Place Kimmy -Loo, Brenda will be right on this !!!
Molly, you are right - I have been here - was just going to "talk" with you!!

This is the third "request" we have with no address!! Do we want to go ahead and post them without addresses or wait until we get a place to send the cards? The other one has been "hanging" since July 15, I got a card today for him - and even I don't know where to send it!!!
Good question ------ maybe a mention of them and the page they are on. BUT ask no cards sent until an address comes in ?
Now if the person has a link then put that up.
ok - one of them we just have a Facebook link - do you think we should just put that up?
I am asking for addresses from these people. I guess they just don't get online as much as some of us do!!
Below there is a story about a local man who was murdered in his home this week. He was a 3 war veteran who received 2 Silver Stars. He was a former Green Beret.

After the story there is a web address where online condolences can be sent. The funeral home will print them out and give them to the family.

Death of three-war veteran, 85, still mysterious
By Kyle Nagel | Thursday, July 30, 2009, 02:12 PM

DAYTON — Police have received numerous calls with tips regarding the death of 85-year-old North E. Woodall, but the circumstances of and motive for the homicide are still unknown, police said.

Woodall, who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam before retiring as an E-9 sergeant major in the U.S. Army Special Forces, was found dead at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, July 27, inside his home at 1028 Walton Ave. Neighbors had seen Woodall at about 9 p.m., and a neighbor who went to check on him found him dead from blunt-force trauma to the head inside his front door, police said.

Police on the scene said the initial investigation showed that the death could have resulted from a burglary or attempted burglary, as the front door to the home showed signs of forced entry.

Dayton police Sgt. Gary White said the Homicide Squad received many calls about Woodall following the story’s publication from people who were sympathetic because of his decorated background, although few of the leads have turned into confirmed information. Police have not identified a suspect or suspects or determined whether there was more than one person involved, he said.

White described Woodall as “frugal,” so there weren’t many expensive items in the house for the suspect or suspects to take. It’s still unclear if any property was taken or if Woodall was struck on the head or fell during a struggle, White said.

It’s not likely that the act was random, but police still have not determined the motive for the crime, White said. Police continue to receive calls from citizens, he said.

“The response has been very positive from people wanting to help,” White said.

Online condolences can be sent to the following web address:

Ladies... I received a phone call last night from Ross' dad. Ross shared that another young sailor has been transferred to the VA. He was injured by a falling railing on the USS Lincoln which is stationed in Everett WA. He has a C5 break of his spinal cord. Has some motion of his arms.
Ross and his Dad have shared about the Navy Moms and what great support we have given them. They are working with the Mom to set up a caring bridge site and for permission that I could visit.
Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts. I will post a name and address as soon as I have permission to do so! If you want to send a card you could send it along to me and I will be happy to hand deliver as soon as we have the OK.
OH MY ----------- Go get em Susan !! Give him Hugs and Hugs ----also tell Ross thanks for looking after his shipmate :) what a good guy Ross is. Send him our way ---we will send him Mom love
