Molly had the GREAT idea to send some N4M love to some of our military that are "hurting".
I am going to say that July 12 is the "birthday" of this endeavor. July 13 it got named!!
"M.A.S. Special Hugs" - M.A.S. - for Molly's Adopt a Sailor!!!

From Molly: Hey Moms ---- we are having some wounded guys coming our way. Would you like to make a thread and those who would like to send a card or messages to our wounded ones.

If you know of someone in the military "hurting" and needing a "special hug" - PM me (Brenda Sue) the address and I'll post it in our "special place." I do ask that you keep us updated on the condition or change of address of anyone that has a lingering need.

OK - Mom's let's get this ball on the roll!!

I am going to keep these names in one place - so people don't have to read through hundreds of pages to find them. Go to MAS We Ship Love (Click Here) for the addresses. This is a private group - just ask to be a member and after you have been "checked out" - the powers that be accept you!

Please use the labels designed in the "Shipping Labels" discussion so they will be easily recognized!!

You can either print these on stickers or just tape them to the envelopes. If neither is possible, just write Molly's Adopt a Sailor on the envelope - so they know where they are coming from.

Brenda, Do I mail to you or to the addresses. I want to send to all.
OH NO!! Not to me - unless I AM the address. Most of them have the address, I think - except Maxine Gilson and Daniel Gueringer. There is one without an address and the person who gave us the information has not gotten the address - so just keep his card for now - Michael Andrew Dailey.
Heads Up - Tomorrow I will be updating the discussion. If you want an address, get it NOW!!!
I saved all the addresses I deleted. If you want one, just send me a PM with your email address and I'll forward them to you.
Update on Michael Sheppard from Denise:

I wanted to let everyone know that I had the best day yesterday that I have had in a month. I got to talk with Michael. Not sure why his jaw was un-wired . The doctor that did it said not until the 15th. The first thing he said was "Mom, I love you" I was just so great. He still has a long way to go. They are wanting him to make a choice as to what rehab center he wants to go to. We don't know where they will be yet. He was told he would be given a list today. If they are out of the area he is in we are going to do what ever we can to have the Navy bring him to the west coast so that I can look out after him. We don't know if the Navy will do that but we are going to try.
I don't know how long it will be before he will be moved. He has picked up a couple infections that they are trying to clear up. He still has had nothing to drink or eat by mouth. still unable to get out of bed on is own. My understanding is all this needs to be done before he can go anywhere. At least I think.
Ladies... I was able to meet Chris Tamyan and his mother today. He is originally from Hawaii. His mother is with him and they hope her sister will be able to join them later this week. He has two younger sisters that are home with other family. His mom had never heard of Navy for Moms and is quite overwhelmed with Chris' injury.

Chris was in pretty good spirits today. He was able to get into his wheelchair for the first time today and was excited to share that. He has more movement and strength in his left arm so they are 'tweaking' his chair to move all the controls to that side.

Chris was an EN (Engineman) on the USS Lincoln which is stationed in Everett WA. The Lincoln is currently in dry dock in Bremerton. Chris was injured by a falling railing while working on the ship. He has a C5 (very high) break of his spinal cord. Has some motion of his arms. Will not have much, if any use of his fingers.

Ross and his Dad have been over to visit Chris and his mom. Ross's Dad went shopping for some shorts and t-shirts that will be easier to get on and off for Chris. I will pick up some of the sweat pants that they wear for chilly days. Part of the therapy is for the guys to be as independent as possible. So occupational therapy includes getting dressed, personal care, etc.

Cards will really be welcomed as his family lives so far away. Also if you want to tuck in something a DVD would be great! He has a tv and player in his room! With his injury he won't be able/stable enough for a while to play board games, etc.

Found out his favorite flavor blizzard and will be taking that along with a DVD or two on my next visit. He also requested fresh fruit... love a healthy sailor!

OMG he is a Snipe ---- (not that it matters to anyone but me )
Honey Susan could you get any bigger of a heart ? Does he have a caring bridge to follow ?
OHhhh Heavens -------this hurts. Good for Ross he is helping his shipmate.
Maybe those boys will be a great help to one another --horrible way to be bonded. BUT you never know they may just feed off each other for guidence and understanding. Nothing like a friend who understands (right navy moms)
How many of us now have best friends just from understanding each other.
How many of us now have best friends just from understanding each other.

or "being there" when the other one REALLY needed a shoulder to cry on!!
I'll NEVER forget you for that!! and I get tears every time I think about it - and he is home safe and sound!
Gosh don't we all need that shoulder to cry on sometimes!?!

Chris does not have a caring bridge site yet... His mom is not a computer girl... Ross' dad is going to help them with a site. I have offered to assist also. Especially once Ross' dad heads for home. Headed out now to find some DVD's for Chris...
Update on Ross... he is doing well with his therapy and healing. He had his first 'field trip' to learn how to take the bus around Seattle last week. His spirits are up and he is very appreciative of the cards you have sent! He is looking foward to a trip home to South Dakota possibly as soon as October.
This is such a good idea!
Update on Airman Colton from Irene in Texas' Moms:

Colton is getting better everyday. Wednesday, he will transferred to San Antonio via air ambulance. His wife and dad will make the trip on the plane with him. We are very excited to have him back in the great state of Texas (eh hm - thank you, Irene - I agree!! ♥ Brenda Sue), even if it is 5 hours away, at least it's not 1600 miles. He will be transferred to the hospital at Lackland AFB until he no longer needs hospital care. Then, when he is ready for rehab, he will go to the Center for the Intrepid at Brooks Army Med Ctr in San Antonio. We believe that this is the best place for him. Praises to God for answering those prayers the way we wanted them answered. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It has lifted us so much in the last month.
