My son is in same ship and division, have you had any contact with your son?
We received the form letter with a fve line note from him. Now I'm just anxiously awaiting a real letter and I'm hoping that this Sunday they've earned a chance for some time to write...I guess we'll find out next week! In the meantime I'll just keep writing my letters and sending them away. Have you heard from your son yet?
My son is also in the same ship & Division. I have not received a letter or a phone call yet. I guess I will have to wait maybe next week, I think they have to wait about two weeks before they can write. They keep them busy which is good but hopefully they will all get a chance to write soon. I went to the Hallmark store yesterday and stocked up on cards (No Musical One's though) they did not have a big selection of military cards out on the shelf ,But I asked the lady that worked there about that and she said they did not get alot in but they had Hero Cards in the back room. So she brought them out it was a big box. I went through them all I think I purchased about twenty. My son is my hero so I thought it was great. So if you are looking for cards go to Hallmark and ask for the Hero Cards they will have them in the back room(hopefully). I think I was lucky to find them. It made me feel better.
Hello everyone! My son is on Ship 13, div 363 too! Has anyone gotten a real letter yet? I'm dying to hear from him!
Emjay57, I have not received a Real letter yet. I would like to hear from him soon thought.
Have you bought tickets yet for his PIR? I hope everything goes smoothly and on time for that. I read where a PIR that was scheduled for 10/23 was pushed back to 10/30. Then someone wrote that there are no PIR's on 10/23 that was a mistake, so it was changed to 10/30/09.
I'm going to get some cards today, I've been sending letters and articles from the sports page. I am sending pictures from his going away party too. I miss him so much!
Emjay57, We have not bought tickets yet. We will soon I'm waiting for the price to go down a little more they are so expensive right now. I have also been writing letters and sending funny jokes that I think he might like the cards are a great because sometimes it's hard to write a letter you run out of things to say. I miss my son too.
Stll np wprd from my son yet, but encourage that they are now getting their mail. I am hoping that means that they are now sending and that we will get some anyday. Bad news for me I will be out of town for the nest 4 days...I hope to have a great suprise when I get home!!
Is the Resident Inn close to RTC? I haven't made my hotel reservations yet, but bought my airline tickets last night. I am looking for a decent hotel that is close to RTC. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Hello all!

I'm really hoping the guys were able to write Sunday and that we'll all receive letters this week. From what I've seen a lot of activity is consistent within the divisions, so you're all the moms that I'm checking to see if you've received or heard anything. As far as PIR goes, I already booked our travel to be in Chicago from Thursday thru Sunday. We're flying to Milwaukee (saved lots of $) and staying at the Homewood Suites. I keep reading from PIR moms saying that time flew during boot camp, but it sure feels like a slow crawl to me right now!

While we're waiting to hear from our Recruits, I'd love to hear about your sons' plans - their rate (job?), where they'll be going for A school, and where you're from. I'll start by letting you know my son is headed to sub school in Groton, CT and that we live in Sacramento, California.

Take care!
Cindy
My son is going to Air Traffic Control School in Pensacola ( I think), he seemed to know that is where the school is, but from what I read on here, I'm not sure if it's set in stone. We live in St. Petersburg, FL, so Pensacola would be good.
Are the Homewood Suites close to RTC? Reasonable? We booked our flights last night, from Thurs. to Sunday night.
I received one letter so far. He hadn't received any of our letters yet. By now I'm sure he has. I try to send something every day or every other day.
Can't wait for 10/16/09!!!! I hope Battlestations 21 goes good-it sounds ROUGH! I'm sure they'll be ready though.
Till next time-
MJ
Hello "Emjay57"
I just realized that I completely missed your post until now. I'm guessing you've booked a room by now and wonder where you'll be staying? I chose the Homewood suites for the price, although it's about a 20 minute drive to RTC. Hopefully that won't be too much of a problem. Hard to believe we're down to just a couple of weeks, have you heard anything interesting from your son? I read "mom4 son's posting on the 10/16 page and it sounds a lot like what I've heard from my son. Sounds like the guys have been going through some tough times. Talk to you later!
Cindy
