Let's keep Division364 in our prayers as they enter Battle Stations at 20:00 tonight. May we all get our calls soon. A call during Meet and Greet would be a wonderful place to share the joy!
Thanks to all the wonderful support. :-)

There seem to be a lot of coprsmen in this division. Laurence, Brandon, Jonathon and Miguel. I think since our kids are together in the same division and are going to the same A school, maybe we need to stay in contact more.
Even if your favorite recruit is not a coprsman, we still have a bond.
I am going to the Meet and Greet at the Ramada, but I am staying at the Navy Lodge.I'm flying into Milwaukee on Thurs. and staying until Sat. I haven't made my flight reservations, but I will soon. I'm waiting until we are closer to the PIR. Just in case......
Margaret, your right--seems like a lot of our kids in the division are corpsman. I am going to try to get to the meet and greet, we get in right after 6 but then have to get to the hotel--check in and then go to the Ramada for the meet and greet. I would love to meet everyone that we have been talking to. I have a question--don't know if you can answer but...when and if they have the weekend free--do they wear their navy clothes or do I need to bring him clothes?? Might be a dumb question--but I have no clue or experience at this. I know they can not take anything back to the base with them at the end of each day but....
That is a good question. From what I have heard and read, they have to stay in uniform. I have heard that once they get to A school, they have to earn the privilage to wear civilian clothes. I'm not taking any unless I'm asked to. lol. I have paid (tears ect...) to see him wear his uniform!!!! Before my son went to BC his hair was to the middle of his back, pants too big and holes in everything he wore! He didn't "sag", he just doesn't like clothes that are to form fitting! I guess he will have to adjust! He was in the Civil Air Patrol and ROTC until he was told he had to get a hair cut. So, I want to see him all dressed up! lol. I have waited a long time for this! In high school, he gave himself a tatoo. When I asked why, he said because he was bored! It is just a small smiley face on his knee. He sounds like such a "thug"!!!! But he is a good kid. Well liked at school, got along great with his teachers and this past summer wrote a play that was performed at our local Jr. Players Guild. I guess he is just an odd ball.
Oh well, back to the question, as far as I know, they have to stay in uniform all weekend.
Margaret, I was thinking the same thing about so many being corpsman, we do all need to stay in touch. Jonathan's last major in college was health promotions,he was enjoying this major. His Dad and I are both RN's he has been around medical his whole life. I also want to see him all dressed up in his dress blues. Jonathan is a good kid too. Just was having a hard time trying to figure out was he wanted to do when he grew up, so he just didn't do his best unless it was a class he liked, so he didn't have the grades that he has the ability to have.

Does anyone know if the Navy tries to put those with the same rate in the same div, just curious. there was a young man from the Memphis MEPS who was with Jonathan who was also a cropsman.

I have read I think it was on the www1.netcnavy.mil site. They will have to wear their uniforms all weekend.
Thanks Ladies---Don't be mistaken---I can't wait to see him in his uniform!!! I just wondered if he need like hanging out clothes. His normal dress was basketball shorts and tee shirt--my Florida baby!!! No Margaret-your son does not sound like a "Thug" LOL My older son, 23, still refuses to cut his hair--he wears it in a ponytail. He thinks because all my brothers and dad are bald or balding, he is going to lose his hair too!! ha ha ha He blames it all on me because that gene comes from the mom!! My husband has a full head of hair!! Miguel on the other hand has always wore his hair short and perfect!! Except from birth to about four when he had ringlets---boy that was a long time ago!! (I hated to cut those) No letter or call today--I was having a bad day today---really really missing him!!! Take care!
Barb
I received my first letter today... woo-hoo! He really sounded upbeat and was humorous in the letter... not too fond of his hair though. He said that he was surprised how many of the other guys were like him-- my interpretation of this was probably guys that like their hair longer, like rock music...?? Also, he has his first personnel inspection today (09/11) and first test. He said that he is in a really good Division and he likes the RDC. He was dissapointed that they won't be wearing their dress whites at graduation, because it is a "winter" graduation. Now I can take a deep breath and relax... he just made my weekend!

I just wanted to share the little bit of info that I received. Hopefully some others received letters today too or this weekend-- please share. Any lit bit of info seems to help so much! Take care... Phyllis :-)
I am Brandon's nana and Marla's mom. I received my first letter today and was so happy. However, I couldn't get through the first sentence w/o bawling, so I had to hand the letter to hubby and he read it out loud. Guess it was bittersweet - being happy to get it and hear all is well, but also enforcing how much he is missed. Guess I can pipe in and say Brandon too is a great kid. I learned a long time ago that appearances do not mean a thing...they all have to go through their phases of hair styles, clothing, etc. Brandon had a mohawk for awhile, but was still the same person-except maybe he felt better about himself being so trendy...now one of his younger brothers has a mohawk and he is still the same wonderful person. All generations go through that...right?

We are driving to GL and will arrive at some point on the 15th. We are staying at the Ramada Inn, where the meet and greet is, so it will be nice to meet all of you. Let's stay in touch! Does anyone know the time for the meet and greet or is it set as the date nears?

Yes, it does appear that there are many Corpsmen in this division...they should have alot in common, which makes for easier comraderie I would think...
I got "three" lettters today!!! What a great day!!!! Miguel sounds great---his funny self!!! I was totally surprised by the letters. He actually gave me information---gave me kind of a blow by blow of what they did the first two weeks. He made me laugh and cry!! One line I have to share---"I have received most of my uniforms but not all of them because they forgot to give me my Admirals Uniform...." LOL That's my son...always shooting for the top!!! He did mention that he is in a great division, everyone's really cool "but" when it comes to talking our division (he says) likes to workout alot....meaning I think they get in trouble for talking to much. That totally does not surprise me, if my son is in that division!!! Always been the "social butterfly" for lack of other words!! LOL He couldn't call me on my birthday on Sunday but he did not forget...he wrote me a letter!! Take care--had to share!!
Barb
What a great way to begin our weekend! Thanks for sharing :-)
Linda, looks like we both had the water works going today... very bittersweet indeed. It sounds like we all have a group of awesome boys and girls! I totally understand them "finding themselves" growing up.. I was the same way and think I turned out just fine ;-). Blake has been through so many different hairstyle and clothing trends through the years. Years ago I even helped him dye his hair purple.. lol. Needless to say, dad wasn't too happy (very straight edge Police Sgt). Ehh.. it was over the summer and grew out, lol. He has always been a good kid, never in trouble, and has many wonderful friends. We are very proud of him.

Really looking forward to meeting everyone... counting down the days until PIR!
It sounds like our boys were put together for a reason. My son is a loner, but with the right group, he can talk just as much as the oter guy! He did open his first letter saying he was lying on his bunk watch his shipmates ironing their gear. I want to ask why he wasn't ironing his! Did he talk someone into ironing it for him? That sounds more like his brother not him. lol
I'm also counting down the days to PIR so I can meet ya'll and to see my son all dressed up!
yeah! I received 3 letters today. First two were heartbreaking. But, the 3rd was much more upbeat. Molly said she is doing well and teh food isn't bad at all. Loin of pork was good. But, she missed my gravy! I'm going to bring her a quart. She also made me a calendar up unitl graduation day and it shows what day they are in as opposed to our regular days. She also gave me the names of some people she has become but only their last names. So, I will not say them. There is another Molly though! I can't wait for PIR. She is excited too! Now, I wait for the phone call. Molly also said they get mail everyday but can only write on Sundays. One girl got 22 envelopes in one day and she didn't get any and she was heartbroken. I thought she only got mail on sundays so I have to step up my letter writing.
