OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Well the main reasons for me wanting to look at Forest pointe apartments (which is the one you linked btw), for military, their app fee is lower, no security deposit, and lower rent. It's much closer to base so this one will be the first one I look at. I've seen the apartments you linked and those might be a viable option. I want to try and get something very close to base for him. we have two cars but i can only drive my car up here, and we don't know the area very well so he could use my car until christmas break.

Hey Tiffany! I'm moving into the Forrest Pointe Apartments next thursday. (Oct 8th) I chose it because it was so close to base (me and my husband share a vehicle) also they have a "stars and stripes military program" and there is no security deposit (which would be $150-400 otherwise!) reduced application fee, no hassle with the military clause, and the staff is just so great! I worked with Kelli, and and we got approved in one day! Also all the apartments have a washer and dryer in them which was a huge plus!! And they allow dogs. I was looking into the Eagle Reserve but I have heard bad things about Waukegan; though knowing a lot of you live there, helps tremendously. But yeah, I'm still sticking to Forrest Point.
Ana, I believe I am doing the same thing you did. I am moving up there before he does the live ashore packet. We are paying our own way for me to move there from Austin, Texas. So if we want to get reimbursed for the move, he must go to the class, even if we have already moved? If we don't get our money back we'll still be okay, My in-laws have a big truck so it only cost 130 to rent a pull behind Uhaul, and my dad is making the trip up with me to help move our stuff into the apartment and to see my husband's graduation on the 9th. (So I wont have to rent movers) Then I have a little ford ranger and gas up there will only be $150. Anyway, so it won't be too much, would you suggest my husband still going to that class and try to get reimbursed? Should I save all my receipts? Also you said it will be fine if he has the real lease instead of the dummy lease? (To anyone) Also if he is on hold, he can get that packet done? And if he is on hold for a long time or in between anything SCC, ATT, A-school will he be allowed to live with me during that time? (After the live ashore packet is done of course) I have read every page so far and you girls are GREAT!! I have learned SO much! I still did have a few questions though.... I might have read it somewhere, but I'm not sure..... what exactly is SCC, ATT, and indoc....or something like that....? My husband is a grad-n-go, I know there is no way of knowing whether or not he can spend the night, but can I pretty much assume he will have that saturday and sunday to spend with me? Does he have to complete his phase 2 test before he can live with me, or just the live ashore packet? If he is on hold and finishes his live ashore packet can he take his phase 2 test, or is it something you do during school? Sorry I have so many questions, and if it seems so repetitive for ya'll to repeat the answers but I did read everything and still have some questions. Thank you so much for all the great answers thus far!! -

I've seen the Forrest Pointe Apartments. I was actually looking into them before we went with base housing. They look really nice and I loved the part with washer/dryer in unit! I passed by them a few times and they are in a decent neighborhood. Right across the Abbott Labs. They're a walmart up the street and it's like a 10min drive to Great Lakes. GoodLuck with everything!! -

You can look up crime stats by zip code (I centered in on Waukegan, but you can search any zip) I don't know if this is the best site for this purpose, there are so many of them.

Well I moved after my husband had already started his packet. I moved about a month after he was out of boot camp. I had to wait about 2 weeks. So If I had moved right when he had graduated I would have easily waited over a month to a month and a half living by myself. If you move before he has even started on it, it's going to easily be up to a month or longer before he can live at home.
Yes he is supposed to go to the class to get reimbursed.Also do save your receipts just in case. I don't think my husband needed them but you never know.
He will need to start on his live ashore asap! Especially if you will already be up there he can start on it at any time but asap is best! Live ashore means they live at home during there stay at great lakes. The times they will not stay at home is during duty nights/weekends. Holds do not change that.
Indoc, SCC, ATT, and A school are their classes they go to. In that order if ET. If FC his ATT is split up in half one part before A school second half after A school.
Your husband should be able to have the weekend off for liberty for his graduation. The amount of time depends on the ship he will be checking into.
Only his live ashore needs to be completed and approved for him to live at home, His phase two test most people take about 2 weeks after being there. He does not have to be on hold to take his phase 2 test. They do it on there own time but don't worry this will all be explained to him. It's not info YOU need to inform him of. -

My husband is FC. He will finish the first part of ATT this week and then be on hold. He is doing really good in his classes.

Okay everyone I have a new question....is indoc, SCC, and ATT part of the "30 week training school" or is it additional week(s) prior to the "30" week A-school. If it is not, generally how long do each one take (minus any holding time)?
