There seems to be so many of you lately!!! It is wonderful that you will have each other's support while going thru the process together.

Thought I would start this thread so you can at least connect and share stories together. Seems like there is a fair amount of you in Great Lakes and just as many more trying to decide if you can more to Great Lakes.

Hey, all. Hubby is finishing up A school here in GL. He finished bc in March, but our daughter & I moved from California to GL in August, CLIMATE SHOCK! lol I'm hoping he gets one of the longer C schools soI don't get stuck here, but I'm not holding my breath.
Just wanted to say "hey"
My husband will be graduating bootcamp Jan 8th. I am hoping to move to Gl soon after
hey do any of you ladies live at the AMLI at osprey lake apartments or know anything about them? i have been looking into apartments and i really like osprey lake, but just wanted to see if anyone had a good or bad exsperience with them. if not then where are you living now and how do you like it? moving to a new state is a huge change and a bit scary. so any help would be great thanks girls!
Those are actually nice apartments! Not to far from where I live at The Reserve at Eagle Ridge! They are actually very similar to the apartments I live in but more expensive honestly. I have lived here since June and actually have recommended it to a few girls on here that now live here. Here's the website where I live just so you can look it over. http://www.jupitercommunities.com/viewPropertyDetailAction.do But I would say that I would feel very safe moving in to the AMLI ones and they are very nice but like I said a bit more pricey. Probably because they are considered in Gurnee and I live in Waukegan. Gurnee overall is a more expensive place but those apartments are on the outskirts of Gurnee. If you have any questions let me know!

Hey I just looked over the website for AMLI I just wanted you to know what they charge there for a 1 bedroom is what we are paying for a two! Depending on what floor plan you get here you can pay anywhere from like 850- 900 or so.They have specials on rent every month here since I have been here. Where there their 2 bedrooms start at 1000! I hope I don't seem to be pushing my place but I know that extra money is extra money! Especially when they are very similar. But if you don't like Eagle Ridge. AMLI from what I have seen is VERY NICE! So it won't be a bad pick! I haven't known anyone that lives there personally but my hubby did and said the inside looked similar to ours and it's in a nice neighborhood!
ana i looked at the eagle ridge apartments they are very nice! thank you so much for telling me about them. how is the area around there? i come from a small town and it scares me being so close to a big city like chicago. if you dont mind me asking about how much a month do you spend on the apartment a month? with utilities and rent included? does your bah cover all the exspences?
You guys (if you haven't lived there during the winter) should really ask the apartment complexes how much a persons utilities are during the winter months.
Hey. It's been awhile since I've been on here, just getting settle in. I also live at the Reserve (thanks to Ana!) and its not a bad place at all. Lots of military families and the rent is very good. I live in a 1 bedroom 1 bath on the thrid floor and the BAH pretty much covers the rent, utilities, internet, cable, and so its great! I'm from a very small town also and was scare of moving up here, but Waukegan is 50 mins north of chicago and the area where the apartment is located is very quite with not so bad tracffic unless its around 5 or so. I really like it here because its peaceful and quite, but also not far from Gurnee. Its like a 15 min drive to base and to the mall, with a walmart down the road! Well, good luck :)
thanks forever waithing, thats great. im so nervous about the move talking to all the wives on here really makes me feel better, i think my mind is set on the eagle ridge apartments. when i go see my husband for pir im going to look at the eagle ridge apartments along with the other two that i thought i may like just to get a real look at them all. i like the fact that alot of military are at the eagle ridge apartments.
I have just looked at Reserve at Eagle Ridge and it looks really nice! I sent a message to set up a viewing on 1/16. Is there anything else you can let me know about them? how long does it take to get to base? Also do you know where the Northgate apartments are? Are they nice? I have an appointment with them too. Thanks!
Erin
I live in Forrest Pointe Apartments they are very nice and one of the closest apartments to the base. (About 7 minutes away) My BAH covers rent, electricity, water, and heat! Plus I have a little left over. I was really nervous to move up here to but it all worked out nicely. Oh and this apt complex has a stars and stripes program for military, that is just great! I looked into the AMLI apts too, but they were a little more pricey and the staff never got back to me on what they had available. But forrest pointe did everything they could for me and I got a huge discount on rent. Anyway I found a lot of reviews for apartments online. Just search for apartment ratings in google. It helped make my decision. Anyway good luck with the apartment search!
Thanks Amanda, uhhh this just makes it harder for me to pick wich apartment that i want lol. i was set on either the forrest pointe apartments or the eagles ridge. then my husband started looking into apartments and thought he liked amli, however like you said they were more exspensive. so im back to forrest pointe or eagle ridge again. how is the neighborhood at forrest pointe? and are they clean? and how are the sizes of the apartments? we just want a one bedwroom one bath.
Eagle ridge does have apartments with washers and dryers in the units available. I personally don't have a w/d but it's not really a "hassle" there are multiple w/d for use on the base level of each building and you get a card that you can load money onto at the front office that is open to put more money on 24/7. just fyi : )
