Hi, I am Navygranny's daughter. My son (her grandson) is from Ohio. He is 22. Thanks for the link! Btw, my name is Jodi.
Hi there. My son is also in this division. He also left on the 23rd. (He just turned 19 on the 18th of Nov.) He called his girlfriend on Thanksgiving, and he told her that the PIR date was the 29th of Jan. Can't wait to get a letter from him! We haven't received our official letter yet, either. Nice to have others in the same "boat" that we are in, though, to keep in touch with.
My grandson has the same ship and division. How did you find out the PIR date?
My son called on Thanksgiving--he told us during that call.
Got my form letter today. Ship 10 Division 067.
I had been addressing my letters incorrectly (right address and zip code but wrong name format) It should be as follows:
Sr Last name, First name, Middle initial.

I guess I forgot he was a Sailor! (Sr)
Laurie,

You are not the only one that addressed it wrong. I did the same thing.
No call here yet. I wonder how long it takes for them all to make their calls.
I received a call from my son also. It was such a wonderful surprise! He sounded great and is very upbeat about everything. Said the food was really good and he was eating like a pig. lol!
Hi Gang, Hope everyone has had a great weekend – I’ve been so busy this weekend getting Brett’s bills etc in order, his filing system for his bills was much the same as his clothes – i.e. the floor. Plus getting Christmas cards out – btw I enclosed preaddressed labels for loved ones to use for Christmas cards and letters to Brett.
We got a call from him this afternoon, it was so nice to hear his voice and it was long call too over half an hour. I asked why they got to call home – well I can’t repeat his exact words but basically they have been doing well. There is a big test coming up this week he is a little worried about but all in all doing well.
Not sure if the other boys need these items or not but he thought the envelope thing was a good idea – a pre self addressed envelope to mail back home some of the letters. I was so glad to hear even with all the mix up about the addresses he is getting all of the letters. OMG I was so glad to hear that! And he loved the survey multiple choice questionnaire too. You guys have been giving me such good advice I can’t ever thank you enough. He also needs stamps and some regular envelopes – he says it costs more to mail from there??? Not sure why but he is going through stamps like crazy and the envelopes they have for them to use are very small.
Mhill – My son Brett is 23 yrs old and has his associates in criminal justice, his dream has always been to be a State Trooper much like his great granddad but he just missed the cut off and now they require a Bachelors degree, his hope is to obtain that while he is doing his MA rotation while in the Navy. This is right up his alley and I’m so glad his recruiter was there for him and he was able to get this position. He will be attending A school in TX, which for me unfortunately means I will have to fly down to see his pinning – if I can bear to get on the plan – I have a fear of flying.

Hope everyong has a great week!
Hi everyone! I got my second call last night and he is having such a hard time and wants to come home! I am so sad for him but know he is doing the right thing and will make it. Does anyone know about the adopt a sailor thing for the holiday? What do they do? Any info would be helfpul!!!!
I created a seperate group for ship 10 division 067 for ease of navigation!!! : ) I hope this helps folks communicate! I look foward to meeting you either virtually or in person in January!
Hi Erica,

I am just this sailor's grandmother, I plan to go to GL, don't know if I will get to go to PIR all the tickets might be taken. I will go and see my grandson after PIR if I am not one of the 4 issued.
