My boyfriend is enlisted in the navy & graduated from bootcamp Dec.30th. He is now in Pensacola for A school. I would like to know more about how long the school usually is and how long they are "put on hold." He said he's on hold for the school (meaning he hasnt started it yet) & was wondering if other members had this happen to their sailor. He doesnt know anything about when he starts school or when he takes leave, & i wanted to know if others out their had the same problem with gettin info from their sailor about that.

Please comment! =] thanks!

Hey Navy Girlfriend--My son is in Pensacola for A school as well. His PIR was 11/6/09 and he arrived at P'cola on 11/10. He didn't start AWAT for a few weeks. From what I understand, that is a self directed pre-requisite class that they take on computer. After he finished that one, he was on hold for quite a while and only recently started the second pre-req course--ATT, which is not self-directed--they actually attend class as a group for this one. He says he has about 2 more weeks of ATT, then expects to be on hold again but for how long nobody knows yet. I know that while my son was on hold between AWAT and ATT he was a barracks support Yeoman on the night shift. As such he helped with INDOC and answering questions for sailors and such. Your boyfriend should have someone he can talk to and ask questions. Since you mentioned that he PIR'ed on 12/30, I am assuming that he has been in P'cola for about a month now. I would think he should be starting AWAT soon.
As far as leave goes, I can't help you with that. I know that my son and most of the others were on leave from 12/18 until 1/3 while the school was shut down for the holidays. I know I mentioned to my son that I would love to see him and wish he could fly home, and he said that he can't come home, only get like overnight leave on the weekends when he doesn't have duty. Since we are 12 hrs away, my hubby and I have to figure out when we can go to Pensacola to see him.

I hope this helps!!
Hi Navy Girlfriend....My daughter has been in Pensacola since she PIR 12/30/09. One of the girls in her division is doing AWAT class. She is not yet, but.... she found out she had been dropped from the mailing list, and that if your name isn't on the mailing list, it isn't on the class list. She had to go and have her name put back on the list, but now she's at the bottom again. You might ask your boyfriend to check on this.
