My son left on 01/06/10. We got the "I am here" call and have gotten letters. However, we did not receive his box. We tried calling FedEx and they wanted a tracking #, which of course we don't have. We gave our names and address and was told there's no record of us in their system. We called the Navy public Affairs in Great Lakes and they have no answer for us either. Has anyone had this experience? I know it's just used clothing and probably his cell phone, but it means a lot to me. Please advise.

hhmmm- another address involved? This sometimes happens in split families or to a girlfriend. Some kids donate all their clothes to charity. Have you received a letter from him? I don't remember how long it took to get the "kid in a box" but it sure seems like you should have by now.
Thanks for the quick response. No other address is involve. We actually got a call from FedEx on 01/12/2010 to confirm our address. My husband got the call and did not get a tracking#. We were out of town when we got the call but told the FedEx rep. that we will be back in 2 days. Been waiting since then and in fact talked to our FedEx guy and same response..they need the tracking#.
a call from FedEx??? That sounds suspicious! Did you tell them that you received a call from them? I've never heard of them calling the house.
Yes, I did tell them. The first time I called, I spoke with a rep that's in Chicago. I gave her our address and names and she said there was no record. The 2nd time I called, I told them the date and time they called me as their phone # registered on my cell. I did not tell my son until last week thru the letter I sent. I waited this long to tell him as I did not want him to loose focus and also I was hoping it will show up eventually. So how are these boxes delivered?
My brothers came UPS yesterday and he left Jan. 26, 2010.....
Our daughters box came 3 days fom her arrival in Great Lakes by USPS.
It might just be lost in transit - sometimes this does happen. Perhaps you want to shut the phone off in the event that it is in the wrong hands.
