I hadn't checked into the hotels yet but planned to do it this weekend. First, I need to decide what day we will be arriving since we will be driving from Kansas. What Six Flags are you referring to? I thought about checking into the Residence Inn since they have suites and you can get more people in one room and save on expense.
I got the letter!!! I got the letter!!! I got it out of the mailbox and sobbed all the way into the house...

I just booked a room at Homewood Suites Lincolnshire for $135 a night - that's the Navy discount,$150, plus AARP discount - $15 additional (thanks mom!). Non-smoking room with 2 BR/2bath, 1 king bed, 2 double beds, sleeper sofa, living room, kitchenette, free hot continental breakfast, and a light meal with wine on Thursday night. This ended up being cheaper than getting 2 hotel rooms and there is a place to hang out and eat in the room. Also an indoor pool, etc. if anyone is interested in that. There isn't a shuttle, but it is only 12 miles away from the base and takes about 20 minutes to get there. And it's almost a straight shot on the highway...
I am referring to Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor water park. Just found out though that they do not open till the weekend after graduation. I will have to find something else to do I guess.
I got our hotel booked too and found out that the Six Flags didn't open till the following weekend either. Oh well, it might have been too cold anyway. I think we are going to go into Chicago and sight see but can't plan too much until we find out his time off.

My name is MICHELE (South Carolina-Myrtle BEACH). I just booked my flight and CAN NOT cancel without penalty. I call my son's recruiter and he said that if i HAVE NOT HEARD OTHERWISE my son is graduating FRIDAY APRIL 16th.

I hope that's correct!!!

Michele
Michelle, if they get held back they immediately get a call home to let you know.

I think by this point, everyone who is going to be held back already knows about it.
