My ex got a letter from our daughter. She sounded good and positive. :)
I got mail today!!! 9 pages!!! Things sounded tough but she was very positive. She said to keep those letters coming. She also said some didn't get any mail - that's so sad. Said she would get to call this weekend I think!!!
Lorraine, This is so encouraging that mail is going out from our Ship-DiV! So happy for you and hopeful for the rest of us maybe this week! Cheryl
lorraineld...So glad to hear you got mail!!! I'm still trying to be patient and praying for a phone call this weekend!! What a tremendous Easter present that would be for us all!!
Yes!!! That would be great, She said their unit was down in numbers to 67 from 80something - they were dropping like flies. This Sunday is supposed to be their first real holiday sunday. She also said she had made lots of friends. I hope you hear something today!!
Well since I haven't heard anything, I would assume my son is not one of the ones who isn't making it!! That kind of worries me. I will just be glad to hear from him. Will make me feel so much better!! Have a good day!!
krmoore, I think if anything were happening you would know. No news is good news. You will hear something soon, Im sure. I keep my phone with me at all times. Maybe a call will come Sunday!!!
lorraineld: So good to hear some details of what the are going thru...sad to hear so many not making it thru. I am with Krmoore...it made me nervous since I hadn't heard anything yet! Can you share any more details of what they are going thru from your daughter's letter?
I will be happy to. She arrived on base on a Tuesday night. As soon as they got off the bus the yelling began. She said so far she had not cried at all but others were breaking. She said she tried to remain positive throughout everything and realizes it was all mind games. She had made a lot of friends and didn't really understand how her graduation date was so soon but was very happy about it. After they arrived they had "A CRAZY MEDICAL" Everything was checked and a lot of people didn't make it through that. As off last Sunday their division was down to 67. They had to have 7 shots, 2 of which were flu and one in the behind that was very painful. They had to take the swim test which involved jumping from a platform into a 25ft pool and swimming so long and the worst part was having to float face down for long periods of time. She passed that and will never have to take it again. There is zero privacy even in the head - they are allowed 10 minutes to shower dress straighten bed, etc. Two bad things have happened with her unit. She said they got punished because as they were passing out laundry some of her unit was not working and when they got caught the ones working were punished while those that weren't watched. Whatever the punishment was lasted for 45 minutes and several didn't make it. A lot of times they are yelled at with really stupid things being said. She had had her hair cut off even shorter than it was before she left home. She does not have to have her wisdom teeth out until they become a problem. After 2 weeks things were much improved and she said some things were fun. She said I could expect a call- I think she meant this weekend. She alway said that a lot of what happened the first week was already forgotten - I guess it must be like childbirth! The other bad thing that happened was in her dorm or whatever it is called and only involved girls and some of the stuff they had stored. I really didn't understand it. If you have not heard anything yet, I am sure your loved ones are doing ok. She said someone took up the mail ever so often but no one at that time knew anything for sure. She had received 3 pieces of mail from us, so they have gotten some. She said she had gotten to keep her calling card so hang tight!!! She will share it with others who don't have one. Maybe we will all get calls on Easter!!!
I'm so glad you got a letter from your daughter!
I'm so anxious to hear from my husband...my daughter is teething and extremely fussy which makes me miss him even more! Hope to get a call this weekend.
Thank you lorraineld for sharing info from your daughter's letter! I really appreciate it. Been attached to my phone...just in case. Drove my son's truck tonight for the first time since he left. Put some gas in it and just drove it around. Smelled like him and really made me kind of miss him more and feel close to him all at the same time. I really just need to know he's ok.

We got to keep the faith Dest W!! Good luck with the teething!

Thanks again for sharing!!
I was so happy to finally get a letter from my girl I have been going crazy missing her. It would be great if they get a chance to call this weekend. She said she got some of my letters and that she was not the oldest one in the div. She is 31. As of right now things aren't that hard she just does what she is told and doesn't take things personal. This thread has helped me alot and it has been one hell of a roller coaster ride. Didn't think I would have this hard of a time with it!
