I have a few different questions... My boyfriend and I are planning on
getting married just not sure when. He graduates boot camp 4/30 Well He
is going to A-School in Pensacola to be an AM and in his last letter he
told me he wanted me to move down to Florida and live near base so he
can visit nights and weekends...I wanna know how possible that is. and I
also heard that if we are married he can request to "live ashore" and
live with me while at A school....is this true?

my husband is an AM. if you have any questions, feel free to ask me! you do have to be married for him to be able to live ashore and to recieve bah. and like heather said, the navy will not pay for your move there. just a little suggestion since you guys aren't married, it would be beneficial in the long run if you don't move down there to pensacola and just wait until he gets his duty station. a school is only 2-3 months once he classes up and you will save more money that you will need to move when he gets to his duty station. i know that you guys want to be together..trust me. i went through it. but like i said, it may benefit you guys in the long run. you can always go and visit, which i did 4 times and it was really nice. and from my personal experience, it worked out. are you guys thinking about getting married at all? i don't mean to be negative towards the move to pensacola. i'm just trying give you other suggestions. :)
How long is A school for an AM? We do wanna get married, we just dont know when we will have time...
a school for AM is 8 weeks. make sure to tell him to study hard in a school. he gets to pick orders based on his grade percentage in the class. whoever has the top grade gets to pick orders first and then the second highest is next...so on and so forth.... if you guys are for sure wanting to get married asap, i would suggest getting married while he is in pensacola before he gets his orders. that way you will be on his orders and the navy will pay for you to move. if not then it will cost you big bucks to move yourself to his duty station.
i'm having the same problem with my boyfriend. he just go to a school in san diego, he's on a two month hold before he starts a school. he wants me to go live there but we aren't married or anything. it's kinda hard trying to figure everything out.
Chelsea, I saw this old thread and saw that you are now married. My boyfriend will be graduating boot in 2weeks and is going to Pensacola for AM school as well - what did you guys end up doing?
I ended up just staying home the actual schooling part for an AM is only about 45 days, but Matt got put on hold for longer and is still there he has been there since May 5th he FINALLY graduates this Tuesday!! Pensacola is a rough town, we went down to visit him but I wouldn't recommend living there if you don't have to. Save up your money for the bigger move to wherever he gets stationed. I would HIGHLY recommend just staying put until he gets stationed. We looked into all our options over and over again.
