Well still no news, so i am going to take it as no news is good news. Still hope to get a letter or something soon, going on 3 weeks and nothing.....miss him so much!!!!!
No news on this end either. I read of other people getting mail and it just makes me want to cry. I know what you are feeling -- I miss her so much too!!! I was so used to calling her almost everyday and just talking about anything. It is amazing how much I need to hear - "Hi Moma" Hopefully we will here from them soon.
What does it mean that most of us have had little or no contact? Is that good or bad? The only contact I have had is brief calls looking for paperwork. Are they not doing well? Maybe I am reading too much into this...
I think the same thing - are things going wrong? - Is her division being punished for something? Why have we not heard from them? But I am going to hold on to "no news is good news" for now. But something better give soon because I know the Navy doesn't want to see 100 angry mothers showing up at boot camp lol.
Good morning to all. My name is Mary, and my daughter Jessica is on Ship 14, Division 187. She left on 3/22, and much like the rest of the group we have not had a personal letter from her yet. We got the 10 second call, the box, and the form letter. On a bright note, she did have to call once to get a name and address for her security form, so we were able to hold a brief 4 minute conversation with her on Friday, April 2nd. She said she has made a lot of friends, five of which she already said she considers really good friends. Said the food was really good, and the work out was not so bad (so far). In her form letter she got a word or two at the bottom which I thought to be comical, so I will share... she wrote: "Man, I have never been yelled and cussed at so much in all of my life. Where the he11 is that dang bus that dropped my off? I am ready to get back on!" Knowing my daughter, I know she said this tounge in cheek. I thought we may get a phone call on Easter, but no luck. I would suspect we should see a letter soon - that is if she has any free time after reading the 2 letters a day we have been sending her. I have read on line that they are finishing week 2, and it would have been a physically demanding week. However in all of my searches I can not find anything that really gives the details - just some very high level. I would really enjoy talking with the fellow Moms of Division 187, sharing what we hear as it comes in the mail, and hoping to hear some of your stories as well.
Hi! Our daughter Shannon is on ship 14 div 187. By now we have received about four letters from her. She says the food is good and the work is hard. We will be flying out from CA for her graduation. No cheap flights though. We plan on attending the meet and greet at the Ramada Inn on the 13th. Hope to meet everyone there.
Hi fibelmail - I've also spoken very briefly to my son because he called for paperwork - he said the guys are great and the rest is hard :-) I still have not received any letter from him though he did mention that he had written.
WE GOT A LETTER TODAY! I wanted to share some of the highlights with the group, in hopes it makes your day like it did ours.

Hey guys… missing you so much. Division 187 is really close. I really enjoy how close we are and I have a good variety of friendly teammates (like 5 or 6), so I’m never alone. The first night and 2 days was the hardest. I was up and moving around for over 40 hours straight. The uniforms are amazing. Marching has been a lot of fun. First PT went pretty well. Food wise they definitely feed you well. For dinner I have sketti, garlic bread, broccoli, cottage cheese, fruit cocktail & a banana. It’s rumored that we’ll get desserts later. Like week 5 or so.

The most soothing moments are during classes, specifically when the instructor is lecturing. It’s just 1 voice. I look forward to those classes and also while marching—on the rare circumstance when no one is messing up, with just the cadence, the echoes and the wind. Never thought I’d appreciate those moments so much.

Should be able to call in a week and a half - Love Jessica
Thanks for the update - I know how happy you are to have heard from your daughter and I really hope everyone gets a call next week. I also received a letter from my daughter Jessica lol - common name - God's Blessing. She has not received any of my letters and was waiting to hear from me, basically all she wrote. What is up with that??? I must have sent her at least 10 letters. The only thing I did notice from the first standard (meaning it was already typed and she filled in the blank) letter was a difference in the address - Ship 14, DIV 187. On the letter I just received the address was Ship 14 USS Arizona, Div 187. Can you tell me if you have sent letters with the ship number but not the name of the ship and did your daughter receive them?? I appreciate any help you or anyone else can give for I want my daughter to know I miss her and love her soooo much -- the letters told her this and more. Thanks, Jackie
Wooo hoooo for everyone it looks as if those letters are starting to come in. I got a letter today as well. He said that he is sore everyday but he has to do IT!!! haha i told him to start working out before he went. He said that he if he gets a 100% on an academic test then he will get a 45 minute phone, but doesnt see that happening.

Yes i do see a ship name on this letter that he wrote that was not on the form letter that i first received as well. Im so glad i got this letter, it was really starting to eat at me. I am so glad that we are all starting to meet and hopefully we can start asking our children and/or husbands if they know each other.

Well i have to keep this short for now but i will be back. By the way i am on facebook if anyone would like to connect with me as i already have with a couple of people on here.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Thank you :). I am now trying to book a flight and a hotel for May 14th. To get a refundable ticket is really expensive. Did you try to book your flight yet?
Hi jwalsh37us - I contacted Southwest and they say I can change ticktets if I have to - in case the date changes - just have to pay any difference in ticket price. The agent asked me if I had a military ID but I did not know what that meant
